They're like a 'turtle' candy, but about 10X the size. Made in Wisconsin! :)

I’ve got a fruit cake recipe that calls for mincemeat. Now if only I could befriend a PETA nut upon whom I could bestow some holiday cheer in the form of baked goods.

Maybe it was Chocolate Moose pie

Reminds me of a joke.

4 guys go out hunting every year but no one likes to cook. They draw straws to see who has to cook with the stipulation that if anyone complains about the cooking they have to take over. After about 3 days the guy who "lost" is sick and tired of the job and comes up with a plan. He scoops up a pile of moose crap and puts it into a pie. After dinner that night he says he has a surprise and serves the "pie". First guy takes a bite and says, "this pie tastes like moose shit!!! But good! But good!

Too bad it wasn’t lead pie moving at 1700fps. Useless oxygen thieves.

Oh, good grief. That is the most stupid thing I have ever seen. Was it a beef or chicken pot pie?

Seal Meat Stir Fry (Serves 4-6)

Well, you’re close. But not quite. A Newfie would say, “Buddy , We goes with the real thing.”

btw Screech is http://www.screechrum.com/home.html

Flipper pie is a Canadian dish made from seal flippers. It is specific to Newfoundland and commonly eaten at Easter.

The tender meat of the seal flipper, carrots & turnip are blended in a thick gravy, topped with a biscuit crust.

Flipper pie is not an everyday meal...but it does make a nice Sunday dinner, or a special occasion meal. The meat is dark, oily and gamey. The flavour is similar to that of hare, but it is much richer and denser in texture.

Newfoundland Flipper Pie

2 seal flippers
1 small turnip, cubed
3 carrots , sliced
2 onions, sliced
1 parsnip, sliced
2 ½ cups water
1 ½ oz screech
½ fat back pork
2 tbsp vinegar

DUMPLING PASTRY:
1 ½ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
small pat of butter
