All: I'll be on the Glenn Beck show for the full hour tomorrow, with historian Burton Folsom discussing the progressive roots of the man child.
Our founders, even the irreligious among them, not only founded this country on that primary premise, but also on the Biblical view that man sinned and therefore has a "fallen" nature, which cannot be perfected by government.
Woodrow Wilson and the roots of modern liberalism
Not a whole lot of pictures, but VERY informative.
I also recommend this book as well:
Some thoughts coming up:
* No wonder why the Progressives hate Sarah Palin, they hate her Down’s Syndrome child. It goes against their *eugenic* sensibilities. Palin hit it on the nail with her “Death Panels” statement. Health care rationing is a Progressive’s dream!
* So true that Hillary Clinton at least is honest about her “progressivism” while Obama deceived the public by trying to come off as a moderate. I believe Hillary at least would have been tempered by some sense of pragmatism!
* That’s interesting about making the connection between McCain and Teddy Roosevelt. I wish there was more analysis of this light on G.W. Bush’s legacy.
* Doesn’t “neoconservative” policy stem from a progressive mentality as well?
* Should we adopt a more non-interventionist foreign policy as Ron Paul calls for us to?

Government tries to dictate moral behavior, we see that all the time...I wish they’d just stop that and focus on the job they are called to....and remember who they work for and signs their paycheck.
Watching now, Larry. This show is so informative. Thanks for the heads up. You guys are great.
yes, just like we were drilled that McCarthy was a bad guy.
Did anyone get the books Beck just asked each to recommend? I,m working while doing this too...
Great show and great job!!
One problem - what’s up with Glen Beck saying that some of the Founding Father documents should be “re-written” so that the common man can understand them? I’m sorry, but that was so idiotic it made my head explode....
You were AWESOME!!!
Not only did you look GREAT...but you also were able to present complex ideas in a relaxed, easy to understand way!
Your laid back, albeit serious, presentation made you and the ideas and arguments you were presenting very approachable...no doubt even for viewers who had not majored in history.
You made it clear to understand, but didn’t water it down.
Viewers would not feel ‘patronized” listenng to you!
You go Dude!!!( oh,BTW, thanks)
I wish Glenn would do more shows like this (I tire of his histrionics). This was superb and you were TERRIFIC!
BRAVO!!!
I’m curious LS, as a writer, do you forsee a time when you write a book with the idea to also be on a Kindle reader?
GB was fascinating as usual, rarely are such topics discussed on TV let alone Cable News/Opinion shows.
Agreed!!! We need to let Beck know we want more shows like this, focused on history and intellectual ideas— but I heard he doesn’t read his mail.
Thanks ..saved the title and will get soon.
Until Glenn edumacted me I didn’t know much about the progressives and their destructiveness. Though I knew they went back in our history to Teddy Roosevelt. It was kind of a worldwide movement of reform and modernism. Such as Kaiser Wilhelm was a progressive. England must have been involved
Glenn has really enlightened me about Woodrow Wilson’s scheming
LS-— hope you become one of Glenn’s go to guys on Progressivism
This was an excellent show. It had 2 problems....
1) With three guests, each of you were extremely limited on airtime.
2) This show should have been scheduled over 5 episodes. There is certainly enough material on progressivism to warrant this much time.
Aside from these things, it was a great show, and you made good points. Thanks for the alert.

Tremendous show, tremendous job, Larry! I was proud to point to the TV and say, “He’s a Freeper friend!”
Well done!
(So, what was it like on the set? Did you get any M&Ms? :) )
Good for you.
Good job!
LS are you still at Dayton? I moved here from Troy just north of Dayton. Great community I miss very much.
Thank you for your comments on Beck, was a great show and informative. There is so much to understand about why we ended up where we are now in our country...Beck and people as yourself bring this home to us all. Thank you again.I will be getting your books soon.
