Sarah Palin's Tea Party Dinner Disaster

Will Sarah Palin's Tea Party dinner be a bust?

Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips likely assumed that scoring a dinner speech by the former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate would guarantee a huge turnout for his National Tea Party Convention, scheduled to start Feb. 4 at Nashville's Gaylord Opryland Hotel. But according to Tea Party insiders, the tickets for the Palin banquet aren't selling—and some conservative activists who have already paid to attend are now demanding refunds. With the controversial event shaping up to be a potential flop, some Tea Partiers are urging Palin to cancel her speech to avoid a humiliating public relations disaster.

Two things kept me from going. The cost in these uncertain times and February in Tennessee.

All the Conference Only and Conference + Banquet Tickets are sold out. They are trying to get $350 a seat for the leftover Banquet (Palin Speech) seats not sold as part of the Conference Package.

That's a lot of money for a rubber chicken dinner, even if Palin is the Speaker.

The Claremont Institute 30th Anniversary Dinner with Dick Cheney is just $250 a seat, and it's being held at a swanky Los Angeles Hotel.

As for me, I'm going to the Southern Republican Leadership Conference being held in New Orleans in April. Tickets are $200 for the entire event, including Sarah Palin’s Speech.
She will be one of many speakers there.

$349/ for a banquet ticket? Sorry, that’s highway robbery. I wouldn’t go on principle.

About 2 days ago it was reported that tickets were completely sold out. Mother Jones is a leftwing rag. There appears to be a concerted and organized effort to try and discredit the convention, and discourage people from going. I wonder who would want to do that?

It’s just the Banquet. They’ll be there when she gives her speech.

Methinks the banquet will be full when she arrives :)

More than pretty much. I’m surprised FR allows posters to link and quote articles from there.

Well, the word has clearly gone out to all the leftist rags: Sabotage the tea party convention.

But it ain’t gonna work. Do they really think that anyone who wanted to buy tickets to the dinner would be reading Mother Jones?

I know they have one devoted reader for sure. It’s like the Bible to one of my elderly aunts.

About 4 yrs ago I was visiting her and she told me if I wanted to know the real truth she had a couple of things for me to read.....one was Al Franken’s book, the other was a copy of MJ. LOL

May or may not be true....however, there's no question that her backing McLame in his re-election bid is really bad on its face.

McAmnesty is far from a Conservative position and she is now associated with him....it WILL be used against her, and she has to have a legitimate rationale for having done it (although there's some thought that it was a quid-pro-quo for the VP nod).

How these things work is that as a convention participant you get to hear the keynote speaker which is usually after the banquet, the banquet is extra. So this article is just plain wrong.

I wouldn’t pay $349 for a banquet ticket to hear anyone speak. What a rip off!
