Normally safe Democratic seats could be taken
The GOP is within striking distance of taking over the U.S. Senate in 2011. If you believe our recent analysis (or that of Larry Sabato), the GOP would find itself with 48 seats in the Upper Chamber versus 52 for the Dems, if the election were held today. However, why should the party stop there?
With Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts, nothing seems impossible and therefore, the party faithful should go full-steam ahead to help take back our country by focusing also on the following races:
California
The despicable Barbara Boxer is up for re-election and recent polls show that a Republican could beat her. Like Massachusetts, California has not elected a Republican to the U.S. Senate in many years, but perhaps now is the time.
Connecticut I
When Sen. Christopher Dodd (D) announced his retirement, this race went from a likely GOP pickup to a likely Democratic hold. However, with neighbor Massachusetts show how best to beat a Democrat, perhaps the GOP isn’t dead here after all.
Connecticut II
While not up for reelection this year, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I) would certainly be sought out by the GOP for a vote if the other races produce a 50-50 tie come November. Lieberman – the 2000 Democratic vice presidential candidate – has made it no secret that he is tired of the Democratic Party that he current caucuses with, and if the opportunity presents itself, he might just bolt the party that he left in 2006 all together.
Indiana
Sen. Evan Bayh (D) has done very well as a Democrat in a pretty reliable Republican state (save for Obama in ’08), serving first as governor and then two terms as a U.S. Senator. However, it looks like Rep. Mike Pence is thinking about joining the race, which would give the GOP a top-tier challenger. One might recall that in 1980, Evan’s father Birch was defeated for reelection for the same office by someone named Dan Quayle.
Washington
Sen. Patty Murray (D) was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1992, 1996 and 2004 by healthy margins. If the GOP has any chance of actually taking the majority this year, knocking off Murray might be essential. In 2004, Murray beat Rep. George Nethercutt, who joined the House in 1994, after knocking off then-Speaker Thomas Foley (D) as part of the Republican Revolution.
Wisconsin
Sen. Russ Feingold has represented the Cheese State since 1992, winning between 51 and 55 percent of the vote in each of his three contests. Safe to say that if Feingold goes down, the U.S. Senate will be in GOP hands

We may fall short, but that is no reason not to keep our goal in mind. We should challenge the opposition at every opportunity. Idiots like Barbara Boxer should never get a free pass... ever!

It won’t happen with Steele at the helm. Contribute directly to the politician of your choice and bypass the RINO crooks.
The RNC did not trumpet the money they sent to Scott Brown, which was a very astute move. If Chairman Steele was interested in self-promotion, he would have had those checks delivered by a brass band on live TV.
We have had rather too much of self-promoting morons in over their heads (cough OBAMA cough).
Here is what I would like to hear from potential candidates:
“I am not a politician, and I would not enjoy holding office. However, I am just as smart as most of the folks in Washington. I like my priorities better than theirs, and I think I could do a good job, with good people to guide me. If you don’t like me in two years (or whatever), then, heck, send me back home and find someone else. I can always go back to what I was doing, like the guys in the Washington/Jefferson era.”
I feel like the guy who sits down in a restaurant, tastes the food, and says, “Phew, even I could do better than this.”
In the same vein, this is why I did not lean too hard during the pre-election on the “lack of experience” criticism of Obama. It’s the QUALITY of experience that matters most, not the QUANTITY.
Shortcomings in the latter can be overcome by the wise selection of advisors. Shortcomings in ideology cannot. This is why I reject those that criticize Palin. Sure, she does not talk like the elite in Washington, with sophisticated phrases. She does not carry herself politically like a Romney. In fact, she talks pretty much like I would.
"My job as head of the NRSC is to guide the GOP back to a majority in the Senate," he added. "I can't do that without Arlen Specter. With him as our nominee, I can target our campaign resources toward beating Democrats and growing the Senate Republican Conference."
Since by his own admission, he can't guide the Senate back to a majority without Specter, he should have surrendered his chairmanship to somebody who can. I guess this time around the NRSC just might back Pat Toomey. Many of us little people could have told them that was the right answer in 2004, but we weren't worth listening to.
Steele shouldn't have mentioned it AT ALL. Claiming to have been discrete (while volunteering you sent the money) represented the end of being discrete.
Other than the rinos trumpeting the tune of "no more idiotic health care bill"; you won't hear a single dem/lib/prog even mentioning it....including the islamic muslim-in-chief.
In fact...it's now all about jobs (re: clown speech in Ohio this morning).
And while I heartily agree with the results, I most emphatically disagree with the "why".
These dem/lib/progs will do anything, say anything, be anything just to get re-elected....fortunately, in this case, they are moving in the direction conservatives like....so far.
But watch them...this will be their ongoing strategy to lessen the possible severe impact of the upcoming Nov. elections. By November, any self-respecting conservative who brings up "health care" will be met with, "who, ME???" by the dem/lib/prog.
Watch...but don't give up. Replace these clowns in November.
And just as an aside....have you ever seen a larger bunch of dem/lib/progs running scared while still holding a 59-41 majority in the senate??? It is to laugh!

“I’d rather have the RATS with a paper-thin majority after the 2010 midterms — Pelosi with a 220-215 margin in the House and Durbin (new majority leader) with a 52-48 or 51-49 majority in the Senate. Let them have the majority for public consumption only — and zero operational control. That way, Obama cannot run against the GOP Congress in 2012; and we can take it all in 2012 - presidency and both chambers of Congress.”
