"Brown says if he wins he will be showing up at the Senate on Friday"

Bring a tent and a sleeping bag, Senator Brown. This needs to be a media circus until you are seated.

Conventional wisdom is that heavy turnout would favor Coakley because of the overwhelming Democrat voter ID in that state, so I don't think heavy turnout is good for Brown, overall.

One - 51% of MA voters are registered Independent. Two - this is a statewide contest, not just Dem heavy metro areas. Three - there have been no stories of Pubbies switching to "Marcia". Four - Kurt Schilling, Doug Flutie, etc endorsing Brown at an overflow rally. Five - Many rank-and-file Dems are both horrified at the spending by O and Crew and see "Marcia" as the same. Six - Also said Dems are embarrassed at the naked power play the Dems took to get the succession law they had put in place to thwart a Romney pick if Kerry won (lead by Fat Teddy himself) and reversed it to force this special election (their only option). Seven - As Howie Carr noted yesterday, if the Dems hadn't changed the law in 2004 to thwart Romney then Deval Patrick could have just picked a successor. What's happened is that not only did Kerry not win (duh) but therefore the law stayed on the books.

This is an amazing perfect storm of justice: the law they changed for partisan gain has bit them back by allowing Scott Brown to be in an actual election and thus allowing a Pubbie to not only sit in the seat Kennedy sat in (ie. "The People's Seat") but also to help defeat this health care monstrosity that Kennedy has so long been trying to achieve. Ha ha!

Remember, in the northeast (does the term "Northeastern Republicans" mean anything to you?), the Republican Party really was the party of "big business", anti-immigrant, anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish.

That is funny because on southern threads we southerners are always lectured about how evil the old democrats were and that the GOP has been Jim Dandy cool as grits constantly since Honest Abe and that they were there thank God to teach all the old Dixiecrats lessons they needed to learn about conservatism.

Politics is not straight line affair as your cogent post so nicely demonstrates.

anyhow..I hope this is a happy day for all of us...I used to spend a lot of time in Newton-Sudbury...I can't imagine Mass going this way...Brown must be great campaigner and folks must be unhappy over healthcare and economy there.

This is the perfect combination of stupidity and arrogance. These people have no idea why this is happening.

Bingo. Wonder what the tone of the State of the Union speech will be like next week.

jennyjenny: From Michelle Malkin: Why is this woman handing out absentee ballots?"

Because she can.

Because the Mass AG Coakley is corrupt.

The margin of Scott’s victory is important... the bigger the margin, the less likely the House will swallow the Senate bill as-is. We need the largest margin possible.

Good point. I thought that House passage of the verbatim Senate bill was probably the most viable option for Dems if Brown wins by a margin they can't contest. But if the margin is substantial it should put the fear of God into House Dems from wobbly districts. Shoot, just having a viable Republican candidacy in MA for the first time in decades should do that, but they're not real smart.

THe is an official quote from the MA law.....Pass it around: What to Do if a Problem Arises on Election Day

If a person encounters a problem at a polling location on Election Day, the person should approach the warden or the presiding officer with the issue. As the warden or presiding officer is in charge of the polling location, they should be able to resolve any issues. However, if the problem persists, a person should contact the city or town clerk who is the chief election officer of the municipality. If the problem is still not resolved, a person may contact the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s Elections Division at 617-727-2828 or 1-800-462-8683.

That’s great news :) Who are they blaming?

It varies. Some of the DUmmies are blaming Rahm. Others are blaming the Coakley campaign. Some are blaming the Diebold machines. Many are blaming the messenger (i.e., media), claiming that the MSM has a pro-business bias. The usual conspiracy theories are in play.
