In her debut as a contributor to Fox News, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin admitted Tuesday that leading up to her 2008 vice presidential debate she thought Iraq may have been behind the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Interviewed by Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly on his show “The O’Reilly Factor,” Palin trashed many of the critical accounts of her candidacy in the new book “Game Change.” But one story from the book that Palin did not say was “made up” or “a lie” was the description of her uncertainty as to whether Iraq had a hand in the planning of the September 11 attacks.
“I did talk a lot to [campaign strategist] Steve Schmidt about the history of the war and where the attackers could have come from,” Palin said of her debate prep during the fall of 2008 – more than five years after the start of the war in Iraq and seven years after the terrorist attacks that hit New York and Washington.
“I do admit to asking questions about that,” she said.

Which is why she should not have signed on to the tv deal, if she any aspirations for prez. Everyword she says will be twisted and miscontrued, and it doesn’t matter how much is later clarified. She was fine on Facebook. She could say what she wanted to, when she wanted to, with the luxury of going over and editing before it appears.
If you thought she was badgered and lied about before, just wait a few weeks or so when the MSM gets to their twisting and bending whatever she says.

Bush never pinned blame for the attacks directly on the Iraqi president. Still, the overall effect was to reinforce an impression that persists among much of the American public: that the Iraqi dictator did play a direct role in the attacks. A New York Times/CBS poll this week shows that 45 percent of Americans believe Mr. Hussein was "personally involved" in Sept. 11, about the same figure as a month ago.
There were allegations that Iraq had ties with Al Qaida within the GWB admin. Later the info was proven inaccurate, but documents captured by US forces from the Iraqi Intel indicated that Saddam was making overtures to Al Qaida and vice versa. That was an eye openner for the CIA because their experts allege that Saddam is secular and will never work with Islamic fundamentalists like Al Qaida and vice versa way before 9/11. New info indicated that both groups needed each other that time, AQ wanted a backup sanctuary just in case Afghanistan kicks them out and Saddam wanted as much Muslim support for his weakening regime. Alot of this info is still being interpretted from Arabic to English and stored in the US intel archives. GWB never used the info to strengthen his reasons for war in Iraq. Maybe it contained sensitive info that cannot be publicized, who knows, maybe our grandchildren will get to peruse them in the future.

Actually, there was good reason to think that Saddam Hussein was involved with 9/11, if not the primary motivating force behind it. His intelligence chief met with one of the leading 9/11 hijackers in Prague not long before the bombing.
George Tenet denied it, repeatedly. But who are you going to believe, Clinton’s lying stooge in the CIA, or the government of Czechoslavakia? George Bush took far too long to get rid of Tenet. As a result the war was undermined, as was Bush’s reputation. Bush just stood there and let them lie about it. As, apparently, Palin was supposed to do.
