My alarm system has a 1 minute delay that allows you to disarm it. I could never figure why the ads on TV had the response time being instantaneous.
Either way by the time the guy wakes up at the alarm companies office gets on the line with you and then calls the cops the guys has cleaned out half your house and is working on sloppy seconds on the women folk.

Some systems allow you to enter a code that shuts off the alarm but still alarms the alarm company to send police.

Mine has two settings, one for instant on, and one for a 45 second delay. The delay is used when we leave the house.

I hadn’t thought about the delay factor. And you’re absolutely right about the 911 response time. Someone who would break in to an occupied house isn’t showing rational thought to start with.
