Abstract
For more than a year, Sarah Palin has been a national Rorschach test. The views expressed about her reveal the distinctions and conflicting perceptions of often antagonistic groups of Americans—the religious and the secular, the conservative and the liberal, the urban and the small town, the elitist and the populist.
And now, with the publication of her autobiography, Going Rogue, and Matthew Continetti’s The Persecution of Sarah Palin, the Rorschach tests are being administered anew, and with increasing fervor.
For her conservative admirers, she continues to exemplify independence, moxie, common sense, the superiority of the common American over the nation’s elites, and the embodiment of modern womanhood and Christian faith.
For her detractors, both conservative and liberal, she is uncouth, unschooled, a hick, anti-science and anti-intellectual, an upstart, and a religious fanatic. There is no group so firmly in the latter camp as American Jews. And there is much to learn in their reaction to Palin, both about her and about the sociological makeup of American Jewry today. While Palin enjoys support from some prominent Jewish conservatives, it is not an exaggeration to say that, more so than any other major political figure in recent memory (with the possible exception of Patrick J. Buchanan), she rubs Jews the wrong way . . .
Ask an average American Jew about Palin and you are likely to get a nonverbal response—a shiver, a shudder, a roll of the eyes, or a guffaw. Naomi Wolf, the feminist writer, sputtered that Palin was the “FrankenBarbie of the Rove-Cheney cabal,” articulating the mixture of contempt and fear that seemed to grip many Jewish women.
The disdain is palpable and largely emotional. While 78 percent of American Jews voted for the Obama-Biden ticket, it is fair to say that most did not harbor animosity toward or contempt for Senator John McCain; the same cannot be said of their view of Palin . . .

American Jews don't seem to be as supportive of Israel as they once were. As many have said, many of them are liberals first and Jews second, at least among the more secular Jews. And liberals in the US often tend to look for the groups that seems most to be a victim (whether or not they actually are), so many libs are now siding with the 'Palestinians'.
It's a strange development that will probably receive more and more attention in the future.
If you look at neocons, they are primarily social liberals. Like Joe Lieberman, they strongly support a strong defense because it means support for Israel.

This is what is leading these morons to their doom. Good people have had enough of their extreme left wing religious fanaticism and are going to do something about it.
But the writer, Jennifer Rubin, is not a liberal. Commentary Magazine is not The Nation. Rubin has savaged Obama, Holder, Hillary and the unions which support them. Whatever the problem is with Palin I would like to see it mitigated. Don't expect a lot but, if Jennifer Rubin is correct (and I think she is), at least an attempt by the right has to be made to fix it.

I agree. It’s supermarket-tabloid-style journalism.
It was actually 78%, but whose counting?
They hate her because they suspect she is a believing Christian and they hate serious Christians. They hate her because they are enamored of the culture of infanticide and they cannot forgive her for not killing her Down’s Syndrome child. They hate her because she has a boy in the ARMY and virtually none of them do, considering it an institution for goy suckers and losers. They hate her for her unabashed love for America, a place about which, even two and three generations removed from the E European shetl, they harbor a deep ambivalence. They hate her because she supports Israel, a place that now embarrasses them and offends their progressive sensibilities. Jewish women hate her because she is so good looking.
Bears repeating. American Jews are some of the dumbest voters of all time. Sure a small percentage seem to use some sense, but, as a group, they are liberal democrats to the end!
Here is my take. To lump the 78% that voted for Obozo into a an overview would be a misnomer IMHO. My guess is the 78% are all "Reform" Jews, and as Bill Kristol says, the Reform movement if you will is the DNC with high holidays. Yes it is cultural. I had a discussion with my retired Jewish Professor Conservative just yesterday, and this topic came up. We were discussing the distain for Palin, and we agreed it is cultural. She (Palin) is the Annie Oakley Western Frontier Girl, The Reform Jews are Urban/Suburban professionals from the NE/Chicago corridors and probably have never hunted, gone for a ride in a Seaplane, driven a Snowmobile, shot or dined on Moose.
Quite frankly they can't relate, let alone the Israeli Politics, Pro-life vs. Pro-Choice etc. issues. They do not share the go west young man mentality of making it in America. Theirs maybe study hard, go to school "X" follow careers in this column, etc. and work within the system.
At somepoint maybe they will learn she is like-able, but these cultural issues maybe too much of a bridge to cross.....
American jews hate EVERYONE on the right. They don’t single out their hatred for Sarah. She’s just the point person right now.

The title should read “Why LIBERAL Jews hate Sarah Palin.”
Doesn’t matter who the conservatives roll out. The lib jews will hate them nonetheless.
Of course now given how he has revealed his true intentions, I tear them a new one by showing how Obama despises Israel and is working with her Muslim enemies to dismantle her. I remind them that it is MUSLIM fundamentalists who cut Jews' heads off, not Christian ones, who strongly support Israel. I remind them of his repulsive Cairo speech. I point out all the Arabs and anti-Semites who surrounded him his whole life, and how he is one of them, and they don't want to talk about it.
The good news? They no longer try and defend Hussein. I get pursed lips and a constipate look when I bring him up. They know he is a scumbag. But they STILL hate Palin! I can only conclude that Michael Savage is right: Liberalism is a mental disorder.

God must be rolling his eyes because his own chosen people tend to choose against themselves.
“Jews”, just like “Christians”, are labeled. Jews, by blood linage, are not necessarily Jews by their faith, the same as Christians by their family ties are not necessarily Christians.
Real faith Jews and Christians choose to serve God first and foremost in their lives, and by either label, they are few and far between. You’ll find that conservatives and liberals alike will call themselves Jews, or Christians, and that true analysis would show that the labels are SEVERELY misplaced.
The problem is that free humans are extremely flawed, and tend to choose the path of least resistance to their selfish goals, whether it be by cheating the rules of society, or govt, or God. The further you separate God from society, then govt, the more convenient it is to violate His greatest commandments; Love the LORD your God with all your heart, your mind, and your soul. And love your neighbor as yourself.
Then sex is free of responsibility, rearing your children is abstract at best, helping others is relinquished to the govt with payroll deductions, not to get in the way of our TV sets and six packs of beer, or “self improvement”.
