McCain responded by saying immigrants were taking jobs nobody else wanted. He offered anybody in the crowd $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Arizona. Shouts of protest rose from the crowd, with some accepting McCain’s job offer. “I’ll take it! one man shouted. McCain insisted none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season. “You can’t do it, my friends. Some in the crowd said they didn’t appreciate McCain questioning their work ethic.

McCain insisted none of them would do such menial labor for a complete season. You cant do it, my friends. Some in the crowd said they didnt appreciate McCain questioning their work ethic. With gaffes like this - attacking his constituents but refusing to attack his political opponents, his loss of the 2008 election is more explicable. Note to McCain - sometimes you're really just being a Moron when you think you're a Maverick.

While anti-American traitors in business are making up stories, they may as well say $100 per hour. Or they could just impale themselves on their environmentalist relatives, who work against domestic business starts.
We don’t need them. We can do repairs, feed ourselves and make the things that we need. Let’s finish the job of depriving the thieving business globalists and their bipartisan, socialist political puppets of revenues, until we have the opportunity to rebuild it all according to the values of our Nation’s founding fathers.

$50.00 an hour? McCain has lost touch with average American men. I’d gladly pick lettuce for 50.00 an hour and work six days a week and I have had some of the worst jobs one can imagine.
Dairy workers at 2.10 an hour rates right up there with them. and no, this wasn’t in 1950.

No, no, no, you don’t understand the real meaning of this. It will take $50/hour to be able to buy ObamaCare.

I'd quit my global warming job and pick lettuce for 50 an hour...heck...throw in carrots, cabbage, and potatoes, too.
Happy New Year everyone!

I never made 30% of that and I have a lot of skills and knowledge. Does Juan really believe we are all making big bucks out here?

People that don’t know, think that Mexicans take the jobs that no one wants.
The reality has been that for decades, once the Mexicans get a foothold in a restaurant, or a car wash, or a construction crew, then they take it over, they recommend their friends for openings and they create openings by being hostile and closing out the original workers that may have been there for many years.
How many whites and blacks have you ever seen succeed in becoming part of a Mexican crew?

What an idiot! Thats more than I make as an IT Director with an MBA for normal work hours of 2080 hours a year!!! Now add in all of the overtime I work, unpaid since I am salaried, because I work in a 24x7 office environment and I am working approx 3100 hours a year. I would certainly pick lettuce for $50 an hour.
Especially if I could do it for cash under the table and no pay any taxes and steal someone elses identity like a lot of our “guest” workers.
Now if I could just do it someone where other than Kalifornia... Not moving there...

Hey, executives of California agri-corporations, who don't do any real work yourselves: keep your lettuce! Shut your farms down!
We'll grow our own vegetables. We don't need you, your doped-up Californian slaver Ideology, your vices, your political puppets who use their social programs to keep other families out of business,... ...same goes for the other corporate agri-tyrants, who are importing most of the food from other countries.
...except. of course, for one California politician: Duncan Hunter--the only politician in this whole country worth voting for.

I called every office he had to sign up for one of those jobs. They all lied to me and said he had never said it. One guy sounded like he hated lying about it but he wouldn’t drop the line he was obviously coached to say. McCain is a scumbag.

Nobody remembers this? I took it as a personal insult when he was campaigning. He actually CHALLENGED folks in his audience to pick lettuce for a day.
What an absolute @sshole!

If this is real, lets count the ways he is out of touch. 20 million illegal residents and their families are NOT picking lettuce.Less than 5% of illegal aliens are employed in the ag industry throughout the ENTIRE U.S.

If my math is correct, that is 96,000 a year. Sign me up. I told you guys that Immigration will pass bipartisan this year and we won’t be able to stop it because Republicans will vote for it too.

No, that is not what he said. In fact he personally offered anybody that wanted the job $50 an hour to pick lettuce in Yuma for the whole season. That's about 14 weeks.

I don’t know what the point is either but apparently there are still some who don’t see what a total jerk McCain is.
