The Obama administration denounced Israel today in a statement posted to the White House Web site in the hours before Barack Obama made his first public statement denouncing the Christmas Day terror attack on America.
After going dark for the long Christmas weekend, WhiteHouse.gov has had three statements posted in the Briefing Room section, as well as a feature posted to the homepage about the Marines who guard the White House.
The text of the statement attacking Israel:
Office of the Press Secretary
For Immediate Release December 28, 2009
Statement by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on Construction in East Jerusalem
"The United States opposes new Israeli construction in East Jerusalem. The status of Jerusalem is a permanent status issue that must be resolved by the parties through negotiations and supported by the international community. Neither party should engage in efforts or take actions that could unilaterally pre-empt, or appear to pre-empt, negotiations. Rather, both parties should return to negotiations without preconditions as soon as possible. The United States recognizes that Jerusalem is a deeply important issue for Israelis and Palestinians, and for Jews, Muslims, and Christians. We believe that through good faith negotiations the parties can mutually agree on an outcome that realizes the aspirations of both parties for Jerusalem, and safeguards its status for people around the world."
What kind of message does it send when instead of the message of the day being devoted to denouncing terrorism, Obama goes after our ally Israel first?
They just cannot help themselves
He is trying to drive away our allies and embrace our enemies.
Same message we have gotten every day since Nov. 4.
in fact US encourages the attacks on a defenseless father of seven driving a minivan home- by three frigging terrorist murderers who were just released on a good will gesture by israel- I guess eric holder should try them in southern district near the wtc?
No, that is the problem.
They are just HELPING THEMSELVES.
I thought this white house administration said that they would not butt into foreign nation’s affairs.
About his message re: the flight, etc. It appears to me the polls are getting to him, as he said some meaningful things.
However, it’s like it ALWAYS is with him when it comes to truly meaningful statements...an oddly staccato and detached delivery. REALLY WEIRD.
But then we know why.

He and his security team are just trying to show that they are evenhanded. It will be interesting to see what he has to say about the attack and what is going on in Iran.
Thanks for posting.
Jerusalem belongs to Israel now and forever.
God bless the USA and Israel. Please save us from the Imposter in Chief.
I hope God knows how much we object to this man and his policies. I don’t want to take the wrath for turning away from Israel. Let Obama have it.
I’m confused: Did they find this message on the would-be suiside bomber as he left the plane?
Contact the Israeli Consulate at:
Let them know this horse’s ass doesn’t speak for all Americans - probably not even most of them.
I’m surprised he didn’t begin by saying, “As you know, we inherited this problem....................
From Israel: Speak with me in real terms when you have a real president again, kkthx.
Said another way, 0bama’s enemies are our allies, and our enemies are 0bama’s friends.
The recent panty bomber will also create another cherished crisis for exploitation. The response will be to go after 80 year old grandmas and angry white guys with Gadsen flag lapel buttons. Frisk them, waste time and let the obvious suspects go free.
As for Islam's interest in Jerusalem, Middle East scholar Daniel Pipes offers this:
"Where does Jerusalem fit in Islam and Muslim history? It is not the place to which they pray, is not once mentioned by name in prayers, and it is connected to no mundane events in Muhammad's life. The city never served as capital of a sovereign Muslim state, and it never became a cultural or scholarly center."
The entire article from which I quote can be found here.
Nice catch, kristinn... This is just your basic equivalent of a “shout-out” before getting around to addressing the Ft. Hood masacre. Fortunately, I didn’t have to listen to the president’s remarks about the terrorist attempt to take down that NWA flight — whatever he said: too little, too late.
And as long as I’m lecturing President Obama, get rid of that clown you have running Homeland Security.
