I found this in the Defense Appropriations bill just passed by Congress and signed by the President. Now we are sorry for all the bad things we have done to the American Indians. What does this have to do with the appropriatons for the Defense Department?

It means that some people just did not read the whole bill!

Should have been its own separate bill.

This “bundling” by Congress is atrocious and should be stopped. How, I don’t know. I do know they will not do it of their own accord.

it doesn't make sense and makes no sense to be in a defense bill.

who's sorry for what? how about the current gub'mint apologize for stealing my friggin' money, trashing our way of life, destroying our culture and creating generation of useless beggars?

Just one American's opinion... that happens to be AI

I was born in El Paso, Texas...and that makes me as ‘native’ as anyone else walking on this continent. Speaking for myself, I believe that the United States government speaks with forked tongue.

How many more times am I going to be required to apologize for things I didn’t do?

This is cool. So I guess it means the English/Scotch part of my family is apologizing to the Cherokee and Comanche parts.

commends and honors Native Peoples for the thousands of years that they have stewarded and protected this land

Driving hundreds of buffalo over a cliff so they could take a few is "stewardship"?

This govt. has zero credibility, especially with native americans. Yeah, I’m sure they’re really gonna buy into this latest line of govt. BS; reparations or no reparations. Just ask the Sioux Nation, what’s left of it.

“We did not ask you white men to come here. The Great Spirit gave us this country as a home. You had yours...we did not interfere with you....we do not want your civilization...” Crazy Horse, Lakota Tribe

Screw that BS. The wheel-less mud eaters horribly despoiled this land. In the main they were brutal savages who make Al Qeda look like Sunday School kids. If they don't like it here then they can go back to Asia where they came from.

“(6) urges the President to acknowledge the wrongs of the United States against Indian tribes in the history of the United States in order to bring healing to this land; and”

Sorry....the best way to do that would be to stop this nonsense....treat everyone as AMERICANS, equally! No more ‘nation within a nation’ nonsense. The people who were persecuted are all DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! The persecutors are dead....it is HISTORY.

How long do we, the innocent, continue to pay for crimes committed generations ago???? Evidently a while longer!

(6) urges the President to acknowledge the wrongs of the United States

That is the operative language, and the central theme of this America-hating Usurper and his gang of self-loathing cronies. They are DESPICABLE, the whole bunch of 'em!

Unless it refers to all people born here, there’s no other legitimate definition of “native people.” Indians migrated here just like everyone else, and DNA proves it. They can take the “native American” appellation and stuff it.

**Now we are sorry for all the bad things we have done to the American Indians.***

Should we apologize to the smaller tribes (Otoe, Mandan, Poncas) who sided with the US for protection against the large bullying tribes around them?

Should we apologize to the Sioux and Cheyenne for geting in the way of their destructive wars against the friendly Crow and Pawnee tribes?

Should we apologize to the Zunis for thrashing their enemies the Comanches and Apaches thus allowing the pueblo tribes to live without fear of the plains raiders?

Should we appologize to the Apaches and Comanches for getting in the way of them slaughtering each other when not slaughtering the Zunis?

What a can of worms!

The racist crypto-Nazi, Bruce “Seig Heil!” Babbitt, secretary of interior under clinton, did everything possible to rip off the Indian’s trust fund.

Is that mentioned in this “apology?”

Thought not. I want to be at the hanging when the Indians get around to hanging that SOB. Bet they’ll bring honey and ants.

What good is an “apology” anyway, when it is hidden in an unrelated bill?

Liberals are just obsessed with apologizing for the U.S. Does anyone think that Liberals really give a hoot about the Indians?
