Free Republic Founder Joins Boycott Of CPAC
Free Republic ^ | 12-21-09

Posted on 12/21/2009 12:14:29 PM PST by icwhatudo

The founder of the website "Free Republic", Jim Robinson, has joined a growing boycott of the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) due to a homosexual activist group sponsoring the event.

GOProud, a group that advocates same-sex "marriage," a repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, and "expanding access to domestic partner benefits" for homosexuals, is listed as a sponsor of the event at CPAC's website.

Mr. Robinson has joined a number of conservative activists including Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr., Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Mat Staver, and Gary Glenn, president of the American Family Association of Michigan in their efforts.

On a reply to an article about the boycott, Mr. Robinson stated "I’ll join that boycott. If CPAC is no longer for conservative family values then I want nothing to do with them. They’ll have to change their name to HOMOPAC."

Something tells me you're not being truthful. I'd rather hear what you think of the JBS, but I'll get the ball rolling. The definition of kooks is, "one whose ideas or actions are eccentric, fantastic, or insane : screwball". Since its inception the John Birch Society has been a fringe extremist organization. Historically, the JBS is a group of conspiracy paranoiacs. The JBS founder, Robert Welch, called President Eisenhower a communist stooge. That prompted Bill Buckley and Russell Kirk to renounce the JBS. Even Goldwater eventually backed away from the JBS. Btw, JBS even opposed Reagan's campaigns for Governor and President. Frankly, I see no difference between the JBS and other fringe extremist groups promoting minanarchy, anarchy, libertarianism, paleolibertarianism, southern confederate rebel secessionism, 150 year old Dixiecrat-Slavocrat agenda, anti war, anti Semitic agendas. JBS has ties to some of todays best known fringe wackos like Ron Paul, Thomas DiLorenzo and Lew Rockwell. Along with the late and infamous Reagan hater, Murry Rothbard. What say you?

LOL - I really am being truthful. I appreciate your take on JBS, I didn't know any of that information. Especially puzzling on their stand against Conservative Icon, Ronald Reagan.

>>>>>LOL - I really am being truthful.

Okay, fair enough.

Attempts to link Reagan with the nutzies at JBS took place during his run for Governor in 1965 and 1966. Here's one reply from Reagan to set the record straight. Always the gentleman.

"I have never been and I am not now a member of the John Birch Society, nor do I have any intention of ever becoming a member. I have never sought Birch Society support, nor do I have any intention of doing so should I become a candidate for public office. In my opinion those persons who are members of the John Birch Society have a decision to make concerning the reckless and imprudent statements of their leader, Mr.[Robert]Welch".

Didn’t Governor Palin turn down her invitation to CPAC?

That's the word we CPAC attendees got last year. That she couldn't get away from her duties as Alaska governor. She supposedly had confirmed to speak at CPAC, then pulled out at the last minute.

The CPAC organizers scrambled and confirmed Rush Limbaugh as a replacement speaker. My husband and I sat a few rows in front of Rush when he gave his fabulous speech to thunderous applause by the conservative attendees at CPAC. It was fantastic!

Grover Norquist is the AUTHOR of Bush’s amnesty. He is one of the reasons prop 187 was destroyed in California and the 1996 immigration reform didn’t reform anything. He is the enemy and the support of him from around here comes from the squatter support squad of the GOP. They know perfectly well how squishy this guy is...and LIKE it.

Shouldn't you have pinged Reagan Man?

so why does some who say they're conservative on here support this.

We had Bob calling a poster an ass just because the facts were pointed out about this guy.
I asked for clarification and yet have not received any.

This is the problem .
We might not always agree but when we have some who say they're conservative pushing a homosexuals agenda.
amnesty, big spending etc then we have these problems.

thank you for that info and you and your family have a merry Christmas

oh, gee, sorry I forgot to add you, but where, in stating my opinion, did I lie? You DO support the immoral, unconstitutional war on drugs still, don’t you? Which, since that is the excuse offered up for waging war on gun-owners, means, by definition, you oppose the Second Amendment; you oppose the Fourth Amendment restrictions on governmental searches and seizures; and all the other assaults on individual liberty engendered by the Feddie’s illicit seizure of power in restricting and limiting the GROWNUPS of this “free” country’s ability to decide for themselves what things they should or should not put into their own bodies. Anymore, this has also come to include depriving parents of THEIR proper authority to decide what, in THEIR SOLE OPINION, is best for their children.

My favorite Norquist quote:

Grover Norquist: ‘Field Marshal’ of the Bush Plan

“I started out as a right-winger, and when I retire I want to be a squishy middle-of-the-roader,” he jokes, chortling at the thought.

Here’s GOP strategist and Muslim voter outreach architect Grover Norquist in the Los Angeles Times dismissing critics of the [amnesty] deal: “The only whiners left by next week will be the registered bigots.”

That’s the plan!! And Grover’s the man! Norquist is the first to always pull the race card. He’s been doing it since he tried to destroy Sen. Alan Simpson when he tried to do something about the border 10 years ago. Norquist is Bush’s man for immigration and “muslim outreach” and bragged that he brought home the muslim vote for Bush/Cheney.

Good, they are getting enough rope to hang themselves.

Now that the fisters (the aforementioned plus Matthews et al) have used one of their favorite sexual practices (teabagging) to describe those involved in the Tea Party movement, these leftist preverts shall forever be know as fisters.

Fitting I think, no pun intended.

You've always been a lying, big mouth pinhead.

I support the Constitution, federalism and states rights, dummy. The major function of the federal government is to protect and defend the nation and its people from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. That means employing a robust military force to guard US sovereignty and interests at home and abroad. That means assuring military veterans receive special consideration and certain entitlements for serving their country and putting their own lives on the line in defense of America.

Otherwise, a limited government works best and keeps our freedoms intact,. A limited government means low taxes, minimal regulations, along with an open and free market enterprise system in which small businesses can expand and flourish. That means a smaller federal bureaucracy with NO government run welfare program, NO government run education authority, NO government run retirement program, NO government run medical payment system for seniors, NO government run drug program and NO government run national health care program.

I agree with the Founding Fathers and the Framers of the Constitution. The Founders&Framers believed each state was a laboratory in democracy where the people could experiment on what kind of government worked best for the individual interests of their state. I support the people of each individual state making decisions for their own citizens on a local basis.

As I've told you before, the national drug control policy of the federal government is both moral and Constitutional. The American people overwhelmingly oppose legalizing heroin, cocaine, opium, morphine, methamphetamine, or anyother designer drug of choice. That includes marijuana. One more time.

The Controlled Substances Act of 1970 is the law of the land. The 1991 SCOTUS decision in Touby v USA was unanimous and upheld the CSA.

Congress can legislate under the Commerce Clause. The ONLY issue was one of delegation, can Congress delegate it's legislative authority to an executive-branch agency. Again, under fairly settled law, Congress can so long as it limits the discretion of the agency and provides the overall structure/guidance to the agency in the grant of delegation, and so long as the agency follows established principles of administrative law (due process, review and comment, etc).

In addition, I cite Justice Scalia's concurance in the judgment of AG Gonzales v Raich, of June.6,2005.

"I agree with the Court's holding that the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) may validly be applied to respondents' cultivation, distribution, and possession of marijuana for personal, medicinal use."

"Since Perez v. United States, 402 U. S. 146 (1971), our cases have mechanically recited that the Commerce Clause permits congressional regulation of three categories: (1) the channels of interstate commerce; (2) the instrumentalities of interstate commerce, and persons or things in interstate commerce; and (3) activities that "substantially affect" interstate commerce.

Historically, the JBS is a group of conspiracy paranoiacs.

Yeah. The JBS has long espoused the idea that there is a plan to institute a global socialist government.

There is, isn't there? World domination is part of the Socialist's Goals.

They have long decried deviation from the original intent of the Constitution, even when that deviation was popular (or the person embracing such action was), citing the eventual hazards including the cumulative and incremental change of our way of life.

For extra credit, cite how the Patriot Act or the War on Drugs has enhanced your civil rights vs. stripped you of your fourth and fifth amendment rights, for starters.

Funny thing, they have been pretty much right on what has played out so far.

People paying attention to the actions of our Government, opposing those actions have slowed the Marxist juggernaut, but failed to stop it entirely because of the compromises made on both sides of the aisle, compromises which are devoid of Constitutional basis.

We have reached the point where other predictions (Global de facto governance via the UN), once inconceiveable, have entered the realm of possibility (Copenhagen a near miss at instituting such), something we ignore at our peril.

Why is it that the first people to see something are decried as "Kooks"?

Eternal vigillance means just that, and it is the price of Liberty. To do less than jealously guard all our liberties is how we have ended up with the mess we are in.
