Mystery surrounded the Lockerbie bomber last night after he could not be reached at his home or in hospital.
Libyan officials could say nothing about the whereabouts of Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, and his Scottish monitors could not contact him by telephone. They will try again to speak to him today but if they fail to reach him, the Scottish government could face a new crisis.
Under the terms of his release from jail, the bomber cannot change his address or leave Tripoli, and must keep in regular communication with East Renfrewshire Council.

Isn’t this guy dead? I thought I heard that he had died a few months ago. He was dying of a terminal illness, which I thought triggered his release from prison. Am I thinking of somebody else; was there another Lockerbie bomber released from prison?
Bomber’s union benefits must have run out. Time to go back to work. Maybe he can come to America and get a position in the White House. I hear Bill Ayers may be hiring.
Maybe he was getting bought off in a locked door meeting with the Kenyan Usurper.

Better than my question: What did they think was going to happen?
He should be...when he was released in late August it was because he had, "less than three months to live."
That’s what I remember , too. They release him saying that he was going to die. About a month after that they said he had died.
He didn’t change his address, he’s just on a long visit elsewhere.
What numbnuts these folks are to let this guy out.
I’d guess that N. ‘Frica has better health care than Scotland. A miracle cure because there was no death panel at his new hospital.

Does this seem like a guy that would want to fade gently into the night, or the kind of guy who would want to go out with (dare a say it) a BANG?!?!!?
