Five Eastern European men were detained and their plane was impounded and grounded at Don Muang Airport on Saturday after it was found loaded with tons of war weapons.

Government Spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn declined to reveal where the plane was from and its its destination, saying Thai authorities are investigating the five men reportedly from Belarus and Kazakhstan.

A TV footage showed military trucks believed to be loaded with the confiscated weapons left Don Muang Airport. The footage also showed the grounded plane.

Thai TV reported that the weapons were transferred in the military trucks to a depot in Nakhon Sawan.

Panithan said the impound of the plane was the result of cooperation between Thai and foreign intelligence units.

Earlier Deutsche Presse Agentur reported that Thai authorities on Saturday impounded a North Korean airplane that was found to be carrying war weapons, officials confirmed.

Well, this can't be right. The UN told North Korea not to do that anymore. There must be some mistake.

Well....remember when they tried to do it by ship and were followed around everywhere? I think they found a different way to do it! If at first you don’t succeed....

Vicktor Bout, a major Russian arms smuggler was busted in Thailand in March ‘08 trying to buy arms for the FARC. Any remote connection?

I am not sure about Vicktor, but I am sure that the Russians are up to their necks in this. Whenever illegal arms are involved, it is either us or Russia who are at fault. I guess China has gotten big enough to play too. Thanks for the post, it gives me something to investigate!

Every ship leaving NK should be searched on the high seas. Let them stop us if they want.

Mayor Bloomberg says this highlights the need for stricter gun control laws, and socialized medicine.

"There may come a day when such planes start landing here."

Hopefully they will for the patriot freedom fighters fighting against the Socialist US government.
