Right, but then that would cause the new species to die out and reverse exactly what evolution is supposed to be.

Just one? Lungfish for example, with both gills as well as primitive lung structures. Seals, with traits of both ocean going mammals and land mammals.. etc, etc, etc.. Those are just a couple of obvious examples.

“Fringe”
LOL
Oh how the Founding Fathers - Christian, Deist, Agnostic, or otherwise - would roll-over in their graves at that characterization of the folks at FR.
They gave King George the boot for much, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH less than we put-up with now from the Socialists.
Patrick Henry and the bunch would be censuring Copenhagen in the halls of Congress, to loud applause. Imagine Jefferson being asked to subsidize foreigners who wish to impose a tax on everything industry produces in our sovereign nation!
I don't know if the founders would be laughing to the point of speechlessness or recruiting patriots for battle......

They’d be a mutt with attributes of each. But the offspring would be able to breed with another dog so they are the same species.

Well, they would be a different species within the animal classification Id assume (regarding the big cat).
But say a poodle and a cocker spaniel breed, that new breed within the dog species doesnt make them a wolf, right?
All of the cat species, from the house cat to the jaguar to the tiger, in the New World and the Old World, were once the same animal (whether you accept Creation of "kinds" or evolution), yet there are huge differences among them now. If you put a group of chihuahuas in a different environment (islands are classic) where, perhaps, the primary easily accessible food was grain, how long would it take before the descendants of the chihuahuas were indistinguishable from rats? (Assuming you can tell the difference now :D)

I liken it to races like in humans. Different genetic features for adaption to different environments. Or just variation in color.

Not anymore. For reasons that elude me, the trend today among the "biology" establishment is to push headlong and recklessly into species splitting -- as opposed to species lumping.
That brings up the elephant in the room, yes? What is a kind? What is a species?
I think I'll stick with the don't/won't breed to produce viable, fertile offspring. It may have some holes, but at least it seems like it might work.

Thinking along the lines you speak of I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I am a almost closed universe myself. Billions of cells depend on my life force to stay in existence...but some must be killed via medication or they will kill that universe, me....

The thing about what we classify as ‘races’ is that the traits we use to identify the differences in races (skin color, some small facial structure issues) are genetically so insignificant that the genetic differences between individuals is far more different than that we identify between races. It is more of a man made construct than it is any sort of real classification.
To: NicknamedBob; freebirth
That’s a pretty rough greeting. Quite accurate if taken in context!
To: mnehring
In fact the human genome project pretty much put the lie to “races”
