Who said? Even those who argue for a young earth, six day translation of creation often argue that there were far fewer 'kinds' before the flood (in order to figure how all those animals fit on the ark) and that 'microevolution' since then generated all the diversity we see now. If one pair of 'canines' on the ark can microevolve into the tens of thousands of different dog species we see now, in just a few thousand years, what would you get if you had the same rate of change, but extend the timeline the other direction by millions of years?
