Gore vs. Palin on climate change Posted: Wednesday, December 09, 2009 10:41 AM by Mark Murray
From NBC's Andrea Mitchell In an interview that will air on MSNBC at 1:00 pm ET today, Al Gore rebutted Sarah Palin's Washington Post op-ed and Facebook postings that question the science on climate change given the "Climate-gate" controversy.
In response, Gore said that "the deniers are persisting in an era of unreality. The entire North Polar icecap is disappearing before our eyes... What do they think is happening?"
He said we've seen record storms, droughts, fires -- and the effects taking place are exactly as predicted by these scientists for years.
Asked about Palin's charge on Facebook that these are "doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood," Gore replied that the scientific community has worked on this issue for 20 years. "It's a principle in physics. It's like gravity. It exists."
Gore attributed the partisan divide (in recent Pew polls) over climate change in part to the fact that people believed to be the leadership of the modern Republican Party has adopted a global-warming-denier attitude. He said that 100% of the people who changed their opinion about global warming are conservative, adding that climate change should be a bipartisan issue like it used to be. He cited Lindsey Graham as one example of a Republican leader who accepts the science.
When asked about President Obama's proposal for Copenhagen being even less than the Clinton-Gore proposal for Kyoto in 1997, the former vice president said. "It's weaker than it should be, but it's a crucial first step." Gore added that Obama -- with whom he met on Monday -- shouldn't be expected to make commitments beyond what Congress is willing to do.

It’s clear to me that government and Al Gore are going to need to regulate gravity next.
The warming of the planet is causing the Earth’s core to heat to millions if degrees. This is causing the once dense planet core to expand, thus weakening the gravitational pull of the planet.
We are at risk of falling off the planet and out into space.
Clearly we are going to need to understand our individual gravitational footprint and how it affects others as well as health care. We are also going to need to open a gravitational credits exchange market, as well as a gravitational lock box, so that our children can enjoy the same quality of gravity that we do.
This science is settled, and the only entity on this planet that can save us is the us federal government in conjunction with the UN and the NWO. We also require immediate donations, or we will not be able to help you. Oh, and, children, if your parents do not agree with this gravitational crisis, call 911 immediately, and report their whacky schemes to police.
Al is yet another mal-educated Harvardian. When are we going to stop worshipping the Ivy League?
He doesn’t understand the science
...this bloated jackass is barking up a bad tree. Sarah has Facebook, and WILL use it.
Inglis and Graham are two goobers in a pod. Also help McCain's opponent in AZ. That's the best message you can send to our Palmetto AlGore.
He cited Lindsey Graham as one example of a Republican leader who accepts the science.
So Grahamnesty is Gore's favorite Republican?
I'm looking forward to the coming decade of colder winters... :-)
21 Apr 09 - Paul Stanko of NOAA writes meteorologist Anthony Watts to tell him of an interesting development in his tracking of the International Sunspot Number (ISN).
Paul writes:
My running mean of the International Sunspot Number for 2009 just dipped below 1.00. For anything comparable you now need to go back before 1913 (which scored a 1.43) which could mean we're now competing directly with the Dalton Minimum. Just in case you'd like another tidbit, here is something that puts our 20 to 30 day spotless runs in perspective the mother of all spotless runs (in the heart of the Maunder Minimum, of course!) was from October 15, 1661 to August 2, 1671. It totaled 3579 consecutive spotless days, all of which had obs. To say that that we in interesting times is a huge understatement. We are about to enter a Grand Minimum, which in the past have produced a cooler planet, while our government is preparing for run-away global warming. Who could have predicted this stupidity?
Is a new Dalton Minimum approaching?
Russ Steele
Well 2008 arrived last night and Sunspot Cycle 24 was absent. While we had a flurry of excitement a few week ago when a patch of reverse polarity showed on the Suns surface it soon faded. The Sun reverses polarity with each cycle change. As we have discussed in the past the length of the roughly 11-year sunspot cycle is correlated with temperature and a late arriving cycle can have some long term climate implications for us folks here on Earth. The Cycle 23 solar minimum was at 1996.5, so with an average 11 year cycle we should have seen the new minimum in mid-2007. Here we are in 2008 and the next cycle is already six months late, and the defining minimum generally occurs 12-20 months after the first spot of the new cycle. This would indicate the ending minimum of Cycle 23 and the start of Cycle 24 will come in mid 2009, resulting in a 13 year cycle, the longest since 1784-1797. Interesting to note that this cycle started a long series - 13.6, 12.3, 12.7 years, which coincided with the cold period known as the Dalton Minimum. Stay tuned, these are going to be interesting times. Sun cycles indicate cooling and the politicians are trying stop global warming. We may need a little extra warming over the next thirty years.
Thanks to David Archibald for this graphic showing the relationship of cycle length to temperature in New Hampshire.
The Dalton minimum in the 400 year history of sunspot numbers The Dalton Minimum was a period of low solar activity, named for the English meteorologist John Dalton, lasting from about 1790 to 1830. Like the Maunder Minimum and Spörer Minimum, the Dalton Minimum coincided with a period of lower-than-average global temperatures. The Oberlach Station in Germany, for example, experienced a 2.0° C decline over 20 years. The Year Without a Summer, in 1816, also occurred during the Dalton Minimum.
Thanks!
He is starting to sound like Johnny Friendly at the end of On The Waterfront.
Hey gore- We all know ‘change’ happened- now, how about showing us the evidence that man caused the change? Any idiot can stand up on stage and claim ‘change’ happened- show us hte evidence that we’re top blame- We’re stil lwaitign for hte evidnece-
You’re nothign but a bloated fat liar who’s time in the limelight was underserved, and you’ve overstayed your welcome- We’re sick of your lies- NOONE denies that change happens- it’s a fact of nature- NOONE- I repeat NOONE thinks it’s doesn;’t happen- so enough with your assinine lies and misrepresentaitons- You sir belong in prison- and happy is the day that you end up there for defrauding the world with your nasty lies and misrepresentations

Not like they can’t watch “Ice Road Truckers” plenty of ice off the coasts, but I guess we are to believe that Santa is up there in a speedo instead of his red suit.
I think you give Al Gore too much credit. I really think he isn’t very bright
ManBearPig should go back to college.
You can sure tell he flunked Physics.
Read the novel “State of Fear” by Michael Crichton.
The warmers and their fellow religionists are fostering a State of Fear in all citizens ... first it was over-population - we’re all going to die !!! -— then in 1970s it was starvation -— no food left on the planet ————we’re all going to die !!!
then it was next an ice age coming since particles of pollution would be blocking the sun - we’re all going to die !!! -—— and then from 1988 suddenly it was the Earth is gaining 10 degrees F each decade !!! -— we’re all going to die !!! -—— believe it or not O’s science czar recetly suggested SHOOTING particles up into the air to block the sun - what a daft idea!;
no amount of counter science or counter research fazes them or stops their limos (1,200 and counting!!!) or their private jets (140 !!!) and counting ...
It’s a religion like Communism, Fascism, Obamanism, .............
Lord save us from these fools and eejits.
Um, Al, the Law of Gravity can be PROVEN with experiments, using that apparently outdated process known as the Scientific Method, that will always produce identical results. Isaac Newton didn’t have to ignore and coverup data that refuted his theory, or try to discredit and persecute those who pointed out flaws in it, because his results were always consistent and there were no flaws to his theory.
If Gore wants to believe in Man Caused Global Warming, fine. There is a legitimate debate about it, though I am convinced it is false.
However, to compare an unproven theory to a long established LAW of physics demonstrates either a frightening level of ignorance, or a shocking contempt for Science.
I love how they went to the fall back position of calling it Climate Change.
Well no crap - climates change - thats the whole nature of the beast, dont ya think, ass-clowns?””
Yeah.
It’s called The Weather.
Summer melt peaked in 2007.
Tar and feathers are your friend Al!
