That’s what I’ve been trying to say.

All we know is what the media has chosen to tell us. We didn’t see the evidence or hear the testimony.

We just don’t know.

Did Guede sit around and wait for the victim’s blood to begin drying and then cover the victim’s body with a duvet so he’d no longer have to look at it? No, that is not consistent with the actions of a stranger committing a burglary, assault, murder. (Not to mention that the only thing of value taken was the victim’s $300 in rent money. Who would have known where to find this money?) This is more consistent, as psychologists testified, as something Amanda would have done. Blood transfer evidence showed that the duvet was not placed over the victim’s body immediately but some time had passed since the crime. The bedroom window had been broken from the inside. Did Guede enter from the front door and then break a window to leave (after sitting around for hours)? That just doesn’t make sense.

You need to do more research. ;-)

In this post we now elaborate the footprint evidence, some of which is easily visible and some of which is only apparent with the use of luminol.

Kermit in his Powerpoint series provided us with accurate prior analysis and post analysis of these flootprints and shoeprints, and Kermit also presented a Powerpoint map of the cottage.

1. About luminol
Luminol is a chemical that reacts with the microscopic particles of iron in the blood if a partial but incomplete attempt has been made to clean a bloodstain away.

The blood traces glow a bright blue quite fleetingly in the dark under luminol, just long enough to allow forensic investigators to measure and photograph it.

Luminol evidence can be among the most compelling. If bloodstains show up under luminol, but not to the naked eye, then it is almost a complete certainty that a crime-scene clean-up has been attempted.

Lorenzo Rinaldi is the director of the print-identity division of Italy’s scientific police, the Italian equivalent of Scotland Yard or the FBI. He testified that one visible and three luminol-revealed footprints and a visible shoeprint belonged to the present two defendants, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. (Another shoeprint belonged to Guede, convicted last October.)

2. Amanda Knox
Amanda Knox’s footprints were found set in Meredith’s blood in two places in the hallway of the new wing of Meredith’s house. . One print was exiting her own room, and one print was outside Meredith’s room, facing into the room. These bloody footprints were only revealed under luminol.

The fact that there was an absence of any visible bloody footprints from Meredith’s room where Meredith’s blood was to the visible bloody footprint on the blue bathmat in the bathroom that Meredith and Knox shared strongly indicates that some prints were successfully cleaned away altogether.

A woman’s bloody shoeprint which matched Amanda Knox’s foot size was found on a pillow under Meredith’s body. Barbie Nadeau noted the significance of this evidence on The Daily Beast website:

“When the judge asked Rinaldi the size of an unidentified bloody shoeprint found on the pillow below Kercher’s body, he responded, “Between 36 and 38.” The judge then asked Rinaldi what size shoe Knox wears. “The Skecher shoe we sequestered belonging to Amanda Knox corresponds with size 37.”

The significance of the woman’s bloody shoeprint in Meredith’s room is considerable. By itself it debunks the myth that some had propagated for a while, that Rudy Guede acted alone. The bloody shoeprint was incompatible with Meredith’s shoe size.

3. Raffaele Sollecito
Two bloody footprints were attributed to Raffaele Sollecito. One of them was revealed by luminol in the hallway, and the other one was easily visible to the naked eye on the blue bathmat in Meredith’s and Knox’s shared bathroom.

Lorenzo Rinaldi excluded the possibility that the bloody footprint on the blue bathmat was the right size or shape to belong to Knox or Guede instead of Sollecito: “You can see clearly that this bloody footprint on the rug does not belong to Mr. Guede, but you can see that it is compatible with Sollecito.”

Andrea Vogt’s report for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer shows just how meticulous and painstakingly detailed the analysis of the bloody footprints was:

“All the elements are compatible with Mr. Sollecito’s foot,” Rinaldi said, pointing with a red laser to a millimeter-by-millimeter analysis of Sollecito’s footprint projected onto a big-screen in the courtroom. He used similar methods to exclude that the footprint on the bath mat could possibly be Guede’s or Knox’s.

“Those bare footprints cannot be mine,” said Sollecito in a spontaneous statement.... But the next witness, another print expert, again confirmed Rinaldi’s testimony, that the print, which only shows the top half of the foot, matches the precise characteristics of Sollecito’s foot....

Rinaldi’s detailed PPT described methods of image analysis, metric and grid measurement of the ball, toe, heel and arch, as well the particular characteristics of the footprints and shoeprints as well as the actual shoes and feet of Knox, Sollecito and Guede. The three suspects gave their footprints and fingerprints at police headquarters.”

Another print expert also testified that the bloody footprint on the blue bathmat matched the precise characteristics of Sollecito’s foot.

Amanda Knox’s lawyer, Luciano Ghirga, asked Dr. Stefanoni to confirm that other substances like bleach or fruit juice can also react to luminol.

Dr. Stefanoni acknowledged that they do, but pointed out that biologists who work regularly on crime scenes distinguish easily between the bright blue glow of a blood trace and the much fainter glow from other reactive substances.

I looked at the CNN slideshow on evidence in the case.

Knox had virtually NO evidence against her.

She was only convicted because Italy has a holdover with some bias toward the guilty until proven innocent system.

In addition, anti-Americanism played a role.

President Obama needs to demand her release and return home.

She didn’t kill anybody.

It was all circumstantial and could just mean, um, she was there considering the fact she LIVED there.

Nothing proved she helped in the murder or even helped after.

Also, her fingerprints were found on a knife allegedly used in the crime but even though the defense showed conclusively it was NOT the weapon found on the bed. Gee, what a shock that her prints would be on a knife she used to make meals.

I’m afraid our law does apply when it is one of our citizens being charged.

There was plenty of reasonable doubt, and I don’t care about the Italians pro-prosecution legal system.

ok....i’ve taken the time to read about 30 minutes of what i can glean.

it looks to me at least circumstantially she could be involved and is at the least a wild woman.

the Italian guy looks even worse

the African guy maybe even more so..

the other black guy...who knows?

is the prosecutor a questionable fellow?...indeed

but my hunch is she is not innocent, though she may not be guilty directly or she may have helped facilitate or cover up...

CNN’s coveraage has been appallingly biased. The worst. I wouldnt set my stall by them.

And again I ask, how can this be ‘anti-americanism’ when they have just convicted an ITALIAN for the crime?. And an AFRICAN earlier?.

Italy is a PRO-American country and has been an ally since 2001 in the WOT. The charge of anti-americanism is utter nonsense.

My take:

1. The black drug-dealer from the Ivory Coast, no question, DNA evidence in the room, etc. He was convicted and even he hasn't continued screaming, "I'm innocent."

2.The club owner, born with a guilty face, so it's hard to tell.

3. The Italian boyfriend of one week, don't think that he did it or had any part in it except to cover up.

4. Amanda, don't think that she did it, but I think that she knows more than she is saying.

Here's a hypothetical scenario:

Amanda and her boyfriend get really high on drugs in the apartment -- maybe even the Ivoirian drug dealer is there, because they know him & invited him in. After getting high, Amanda and her boyfriend retire to have wild sex or fall asleep. Maybe they hear something going on in the other girl's room, but they either write it off to rough voluntary sex or rape, but they are so high that they don't care. Never crosses their mind that the Ivoirian guy is actually killing her roommate.

Amanda wakes up in the morning and still hungover from the night before goes in to take a shower. She sees blood but doesn't trust what she's seeing or what it might mean until the shower fully wakes her up & brings her back to reality. She gets out of the shower, checks the other girl's room and finds her dead. She wakes up the boyfriend and tells him. They both panic. Because they let the drug dealer in and got high with him, they figure that they are going to get implicated. So in a state of panic, they try to cover up what happened. They break the back window of the girls room, lock the bedroom door, and leave the apartment to go think out what to do next and to get their mutual stories straight. They then come back to the apartment, pretending like they just arrived and the police show up. They tell the police their stupid, unverifiable story and the whole sorry police/court show takes off from there.

This hypothetical would explain, the footprint in blood, the rest of the circumstantial evidence, and the bizarre behavior by Amanda and the boyfriend afterward.

This is just a hypothetical, but once you lie to the police about something like this -- especially in Italy-- no one including the jury is ever going to believe the truth if you tell it later so you don't bother telling it.

But I do think that something resembling this hypothetical is what really happened.

That’s what I think too. And perhaps throw in there that maybe Knox made a comment to the Ivory Coast guy like “and my roommate is really hot”.

Lets not forget the prosecutor.

He had no problem making stuff up. Satanic rituals and sexual orgies. That is his normal way he conducts trials.

All the crap that happens like this, thank goodness I don’t understand how they think.

One has to believe that there are some wires not connected. It is nothing but evil.

It's also helpful to read papers outside the US. The murder victim was a UK citizen. Here is The TIMES UK news story.

Yeah right. The Times UK won't be biased. The english are still upset over the murder conviction of that au pair in New England.

We are only getting one side of the story, we are not getting the Italian judges’ side, or the jurors’ side, or the prosecutor’s side, or witnesses(?), etc...etc...

According to Dateline NBC, the prosecutor was one of those people that believe in satanic child-molesting cults. He has prosecuted several of those cases over the years. Sort of like the persecution of the day-care operators in Wenatchee, WA.

This is a big show trial because of the British press. They whipped everyone into a frenzy and put tremendous pressure on the Italian justice system to convict these two young adults. Like somehow it couldn't have been a typical rape/murder by the animal that left DNA evidence all over the place.

My guess is that after the media hoopla dies down, they will overturn the convictions.
