First of all my apologies for being so late to post the monthly Sanity Island. I got started late and and that put me behind
Its almost 11 month since President Bush has left office. There goes no day by that I wished he were still in the White House. No matter though he is still my President and will always be as long as I live.
Today I will post photos from December 2001 and 2002, and tomorrow from 2003 and 2004
For the quote of the day I have chosen the address President Bush gave to the Marines at Camp Pendelton on December 4, 2004. I will only post the first two paragraphs and will post the link to the entire address

Gee what *are* the chances the ignoble committee would even want to receive our nomination, let alone accept it for consideration?
I applaud Aaron Goldstein! Bush deserves the Nobel, period. Obama deserves the Lenin.
Thank you for this Christmas Dose, Kas. These pictures are calming, and they bring back good memories.
Onyx! Good to see you!
I'm sorry, Nord.
I found this via another friend of mine and it's so beautiful:
SJ! Hey buddy! Good to see you too!
I don't think so. :) Those people are crazy!
Thanks for sharing this great column!
BUSH DESERVES THE NOBEL MORE THAN OBAMA
The following article provides touching insights into a wonderful family — the Bush Family!!
FRIENDSHIP GREW FROM VILLAGES RESIDENT’S ROLE AS BARBARA BUSH’S LONGTIME HAIRSTYLIST
By Jessica Shumaker, Daily Sun
“. . . Berry said that she has also enjoyed being able to visit with the Bush family in their home. She was surprised by how inclusive they are.
Theyre just a wonderful family, she said. When youre there, they make you feel like youre a part of the family.
Through her visits to the Bush estate, shes gotten to know the familys security personnel, see the familys home and even encounter a sitting president.
During one visit, she met George W. Bush, and took a photo with him and his father, which she has in her home in The Villages. In conversation, she refers to the two by presidential order.
I thought he was very handsome, she said. I had seen No. 41 many times, but I hadnt seen 43. He was just as nice as the rest of them, and easy to talk to.

Even though they are pretty, the decorations look a little sterile to me. It seemed, in years past, that there were more little things stashed around that denoted Christmas, and those seem to be missing. Even the marzipan White House looks sterile to me; not sure why. Did past candy houses have wreaths on the windows, or colorful decorations of some sort?
Lovely article, DrDeb! Thank you for posting it. I love that whenever we get to read an account from someone who knows the Bushes the report is consistent....the family is kind, treats people well, etc. The don’t have public faces and private faces-—they are who they are. Love that family!
Much as I didn’t always care for the belts on some of Laura’s outfits, at least they were MEANT to go with whatever it was she was wearing! ;o)
That's why we love and respect them so much!
Nobel prize this yr. UBER FAIL!
obama???? no!!!!! Bush should have been given recipient.
T Y for the pings!
Nice commentary/memories shared from/by the prior B. Bush hairstylist.
Wish I could have met/could meet them in person, too, sigh.
Thanks, DrDeb. Robyn Berry has a cherished friend in Barbara Bush.
This link is to last year's Christmas page at the WH: Archives of WH Christmas 2001-2008
(Can it be less than a year since the Bushes were in the WH? It seems like FOREVER. I miss them so much!)
There are two interesting things to note. One is that on the bottom right side of the page is a link to a page for each Christmas that the Bushes were in the WH. You can go to the page to see the theme for each year, pictures, etc.
Secondly, there is a link on each of those pages to the "Holiday Program." The Program includes a message from the Bushes, information about the theme for the year, history, etc.
These are just a few pictures I came across that caught my eye. :)
