Democrat president Barack Obama waves to the crowd of Army cadets before his speech on Afghanistan at West Point 12-1-09
President Obama spoke 4,582 words in his primetime Afghanistan war speech at West Point last night.
He said "al Qaeda" 22 times.
He mentioned the "Taliban" 12 times.
And here's how many times the Democratic chief executive used the word "victory" -- 0.
That telling omission says more than anything about Obama's 322d day in office when he gave his first major address as the United States' commander-in-chief.
Through a clever, timely use of leaks late Monday and suggestive advance excerpts Tuesday afternoon, the Obama White House communications team used the public and news media's intense curiosity about his war decisions to steer public attention toward the number of additional American troops he'll dispatch into that war-torn land in the first half of 2010.

Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
How many times did he use the word “I”
Did he give a shout out to his peeps?
I believe I heard the number 36 earlier today.
Indeed, 36 times.....
Every other word?
The speech goes on to say the day of blank checks are over - unles of course you’re ACORN - what a moronic hypocrite the dumba$$es of this country have elected.
Sorry Victory will take more than 30000 troops + 500 Brits.
Victory means to defeat and occupy all Muslim countries (all at once, or one at a time) requiring a military of 15,000,000+, rationing and war taxes. Quite a feat since we will be going it alone because the rest of the world is not as fearful of the future as we are. Is there a plan B?
What skidmark would expect the word victory in a surrender speech?
Not only does he not have any intention of leading the nation to victory, he intends to ask the military to die and their families to suffer for NOTHING for another 18 months.
Goddamn him to hell, and the stupid bastards that voted for him and the propagandists in the press.
He didn’t say victory at any time. OTOH, I didn’t hear him say that he enjoyed his Muslim childhood being buggered by older men and performing sex acts upon them while they stretched his ears. Nope, I didn’t hear him say that either...
Every time I look at that guy I think of Alfred E Neuman!!
Actually he is trying to appease his Muslim brothers.
He is in REAK deep kimshe over having to put anyone over there. It goes against his Muslim faith.
You nailed it. Agree 1000%.
You nailed it. Agree 1000%.
(MacArthur's masterful oration is so powerful and timely that I plan to post it as a separate FR thread...)
In his speech, General MacArthur used the word, "victory" six (6) times [contrasted to Øbozo's zero (0) times]. Most notably, he spoke this immortal line:
"Yours is the profession of arms, the will to win, the sure knowledge that in war there is no substitute for victory; that if you lose, the nation will be destroyed; that the very obsession of your public service must be: Duty, Honor, Country."
(...and, of course, the General did not need a TelePrompter...)
