We are trusted with guns by our government with the Hum at the door but not otherwise.
Thanks for sending them! I cannot apologize for what a previous generation did.
But I guess we would do the same.
People who do not believe in self defense are not worth defending!
I read about this years ago. It seems that whent he British evacuated France at Dunkirk they were forced to leave behind all their equipment including small arms.
Birtain was so gunless that a German invasion of England at that time would have been sucessful.
They called on the AMERICAN PUBLIC to send anything that would shoot to Britain asap till British manufacture could catch up.
The guns poured in and much of the home guard was immediately equipped with them till the end of the war.
After the war, those firearms with names of donators were sent back to America. Other firearms were placed in museums.
The rest were dumped into the sea.
I've heard this question before and once was of the mind that I'd send the Brits an empty box containing a parchment inside with the Second Amendment to the US Constitution written thereon in elegant Colonial-era cursive script.
Now, if something like this were to happen again where England needed arms donations to defend herself, infinitesimally small as that case would be, I'd actually send a good rifle that I own over there.
I'd make sure to tack a small brass plate to the stock with my name and state engraved on it, plus the reminder 'Aim Small'. Maybe they'd send the rifle back someday and I'd have a nice heirloom to hand down or place in a museum as a reminder to patriots.
There's also another part of me that says that any British citizen that provides good stewardship for the rifle I'd send would probably be better served by me sending them a one-way plane ticket to the USA instead.
The Brits should save their own sorry skins. We bailed them out of trouble twice in the 20th century and yet they still disposed of their guns and any common sense. You can’t really help a people like that.

The poll is still open.
As easy as it would be for me to say, “Hell no”, I have friends in England. They are fine folk, they are conservative (not the same thing as an American conservative, but not lefties), and I would defend them are help to defend them if asked.
I have a great deal of respect for the English prior to 1947.
Some years back, in one of the American Rifleman issues, there was an article about some guy's dad who sent his favorite rifle over to the Brits. Around 1946-47, he got it back in the same condition, and well oiled. A rarity perhaps.
