Krauthammer: Pending Climate Change Legislation a 'Dead Parrot'

After the U.S. House of Representatives passed cap-and-trade legislation earlier this year by a thin seven-vote margin earlier this year, the possibility that it could become law seemed like it was a real one.

But after the dust settled some, the White House shifted its focused to so-called health care reform. And additionally, leaked emails surrounding the recent event known ClimateGate have put the entire premise of anthropogenic global warming in doubt. Thus, the likelihood of congressional Democrats getting a bill to the President's desk and signed into law has somewhat dimmed.

And that's a topic a special Thanksgiving Nov. 26 broadcast of Fox News "Special Report" took on. Host Bret Baier explained that there's pending put forward by Environment and Publics Works Committee Chairwoman Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., with some rigid guidelines for carbon emissions.

exactly -— this is all far from over and the number of people even aware of the emails and computer docs is still fairly small.

I was talking to a friend today who is not very political but follows news avidly (more for his investing interests) and he had not even heard or seen a thing about the emails yet...... he had no idea what I was talking about until I explained.

It’s only one person, one episode, but I’m sure that if the story hasn’t yet reached him then it has not reached at least 90% of the US public, not to mention the rest of the world. The dishonest MSM and politicos will do all they can to ignore this, downplay it, and/or make it only about the legalities of the doc release.

Well, they didn't like the odds, so they changed the hysteria to climate change, now they can't be wrong no matter what happens.

And they followed that up with the silly notion that "global warming can cause global cooling!"

I really hope that Krauthammer writes a definitive ClimateGate column. CK is on the right side of nearly every issue and is not afraid to admit he made a mistake when events don’t turn out like he expected. OTOH he commands respect from our mortal enemies, the Washington Media Elite. They will not be able to totally ignore a Krauthammer essay on the fraud of Man-Made-Global-Warming. They will read it and ponder. Of course they will then go back to work pushing their agenda but a few liberal readers will be swayed. I would be a help. Do it Charles.

So why Cap & Trade and Health care at the same time with high unemployment and record deficits? I believe that they are using the tried and true military tactic of the pincer movement or double envelopment and (according to winkipedia) is considered to be the consummate military maneuver, executed by Hannibal at the Battle of Cannae in 216 BCE. So you can see that there is truly nothing new under the sun, especially when it comes to democrat strategy.

I have just finished reading the attached URL reference. The content is FROM Willis Eschenbach - the person who generated the FOI Act requests in the UK, which the “hacker-released” e-mails are, for the most part, addressing.

“As far as I know, I am the person who made the original Freedom Of Information Act to CRU that started getting all this stirred up. I was trying to get access to the taxpayer funded raw data out of which they built the global temperature record. I was not representing anybody, or trying to prove a point. I am not funded by Mobil, I’m an amateur scientist with a lifelong interest in the weather and climate. I’m not “directed” by anyone, I’m not a member of a right-wing conspiracy. I’m just a guy trying to move science forwards.”

This provides the context and external perspective of WHAT the CRU “scientists” were discussing internally and with the peers in their interchanges.

It is an astounding and clear indictment of the corruption and elitism with which they have treated the AGW turf as their personal fiefdom and basis for their career and personal success.

This alone indicates clearly there has likely been an illegal cover-up and conspiracy to hide and even destroy protected public information. It also makes clear that there is a DEFINITE possibility that the actual scientific data and results which support AGW theory have been fraudulently shaped. This is much more important an issue than whether these CRU scientists and other respondent parties just were behaving badly as regards to what they wrote in emails and discussed amongst themselves.

It appears they know that if the raw data and methodologies they used are disclosed, it will be clear that they have been cherry picking and shaping the fundamental data supporting AGW.

It is important to note that it is the A of AGW that is at issue. If there is indeed GW, but it is a result of natural processes (and not man-caused by the world-wide combustion of carbon, the primary and fundamental energy source for the world’s entire economy), that the entire response required is different. In other words, adapt and prepare for inexorable natural climate change, versus forcing via political means, wide-sweeping changes in the entire world’s basis for survival and economic success.

I believe the information in the URL may be pivotal in establishing a proper foundation for honest, truthful and truly scientific examination of the climate change issue.
