Bob Ainsworth criticises Barack Obama over Afghanistan

Bob Ainsworth, the defence secretary, has blamed Barack Obama and the United States for the decline in British public support for the war in Afghanistan.

The Defence Secretary's blunt remarks about the US threaten to strain further a transatlantic relationship

Mr Ainsworth took the unprecedented step of publicly criticising the US President and his delays in sending more troops to bolster the mission against the Taliban.

A “period of hiatus” in Washington - and a lack of clear direction - had made it harder for ministers to persuade the British public to go on backing the Afghan mission in the face of a rising death toll, he said.

Mr Obama is believed to have decided to send about 34,000 more American troops in addition to the 68,000 currently in Afghanistan. Gen McChrystal requested about 40,000 more soldiers.

Oh wait I get it, when the left says that we were hated around the world they meant we were hated by our enemies and that was a bad thing so now they want to make friends with our enemies who still hate us and destroy our allegiances that have taken years to develop and nurture. How exactly can this be good for the USA? Obama is making us less safe and making the world distrust us turning our once great friends into enemies.

Even a member of Britain’s ‘Nu Labour’ thinks Zero is an idiot. It’s getting bad when the Socialists in the UK criticize.

may not be politically correct 2 say in an age where we r supposed 2 talk about the worlds multiculturalism, but the vast majority of americans draw our roots back 2 the british isles & ireland. We may have declared independence, but there’s still ties there. Always will be. Even Bill Clinton knew that. This bozo in office is blowing them off completely. This is probably americas best friend. They r family. He’s clueless- what a joke! What should we expect from a guy born in Kenya? :)

The Obozo is sure increasing our standing in the world. NOT! He’s diminished the office of the presidency just by being in it.

As Villains across the world are scrambling to fill the Vacuum of power created by Obama, the Chinese will soon be acting on their desires as well.

zero has created a free-for-all type atmosphere on the geo-political stage. It’s a crap shoot as to who will emerge as top dog. I think China and Russia, with a couple of hangers-on like Chavez and ahmanutjob. I don’t see a big role for Kim Jong Il. India is one of the good guys and will most likely become an economic target of China while, meanwhile, Pakistan gives them trouble. That will mean more trouble for us in the ME and more opportunity for zero to blow any chance at winning in Afghanistan or keeping our people in-country alive. He’ll just keep dumbing down the ROEs until our guys have nothing left except rock-throwing and white flags to wave.
