Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist
Fox News ^ | Tuesday, November 24, 2009 | By Rowan Scarborough

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And for their trouble, three of the SEALs, members of the Navy's elite commando unit, are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

This seems calculated to demoralize patriotic citizens, just as the trial in NYC will demoralize.

This is an outrage. Only in the Obama administration would something like this happen.

This needs to be the final straw. We CANNOT stnd by and let this administration do this to these heroes!!!!!!

We need to find out who’s responsible for this decision and march, armed if need be, on this person’s office, drag them out and literally tar and feather him.

I’m willing to go, and I’ll go to jail if I have to. I have had it with this BS. They’ll give 9-11 terrorists a civilian try on American soil but they’ll use the military to prosecute Navy Seals for punching a terrorist????????????

WE CANNOT STAND FOR THIS ANYMORE!!!!!!!!

LOVE your idea about Sarah Palin and families of the accused SEALs visiting the SEALs and giving them our best regards and our total support in time of need.

Damn obozo and that ferret-faced creep holder...strong, committed men and women stand up and speak out and support our military in whatever way necessary.

Clear and Present Danger to the United States Constitution and the Republic.

No doubt about it.

After almost one year into it, we are in denial at this point if we listen anymore to voices in our head--which we so wish would be the truth of the matter--saying otherwise.

There would be an immense national groundswell of support. Millions of us could not go in with her to express our support, but she would know that we had her back. Outside of the politics, which is secondary if not tertiary, it would be THE RIGHT THING FOR SARAH PALIN TO DO.

Barack Hussein Obama hates and despises this country.

He is diligently working to destroy our military and our social fabric.

I wonder why the raghead detainee was turned over to the Iraqis in the first place? We captured him and took him into custody. Then we gave him to the Iraqis which is when he made the abuse claim. Then the Iraqis turned him back over to us and the SEAL in charge or on duty or whatever transmitted the complaint up the chain of command.

Why? Why was he turned over to the Iraqis? Why did they give him back? Did they bust his lip? Why did he complain AFTER the Iraqis sent him back to us? Who cares about a busted lip anyway? A busted lip is nothing.

Here’s something I don’t really understand (I’m a foreign civilian). Can someone please explain the logic?

As I understand, this matter had initially been intended to be dealt with in a non-judicial proceeding called an “Admiral’s Mast” — which, as I understand it, is something less serious in nature than a Court Martial. Its outcome is neither Acquittal nor Punishment in the legal sense of the term, tho’ it can result in further dealing under Courts Martial.

True?

As I also understand, these US NAVY SEALS who have been accused have instead decided they’d prefer to be formally tried under Courts Martial — a significant escalation in the stakes and their personal risk, so to speak.

Also true?

If so, then I really don’t understand. Wouldn’t it make more sense to take the Non Judicial Proceeding and have an Admiral sort the matter out — and perhaps having nothing much happen to these SEALS as a result — rather than set the cat amongst the pigeons and risk significant and serious legal outcomes for these heroes?

Can someone explain this to me please? I do not understand.

God Bless America
