What a giant crock of BS! I can’t believe the commanding officers of our fine troops have so little faith in their troops that they can’t be trusted to hear a speech by a former governor and VP candidate.
It must be a pretty touchy time on military bases these days if discipline and morale is so low they have to fear the appearance of a single person will disrupt their operation.
Sad, sad.
To: Dacula
understandable....military is suppose to remain nonpolitical.

The Army should stick to winning wars and keeping America safe and knock off all of this PC BS. Sarah Palin is a private citizen, leave her alone.

It’s an Army Post, when in Rome do as the Romans. They have their rules, Sarah has no problems with legitimate rules.
Cant understand why no photo’s though.

Palin has skin in the game. Her son is in the US Army and served in Iraq. She is more than just a former candidate.

Well, sure, shes a private citizen, but theyre not going into her house and telling her not to make a speech. Theyre telling her not to come into theirs and do it.
Simple fact: Follow the rules.
And Sarah Palin has no problem with it, so why should we?

“not pose for photos, or personalize notes in the books she signs.”
Yep, this part doesn’t make much sense. Any other celebrity, they would allow photos. Must have come from higher up.

Isn’t there some venue right off base that Palin can go to, and only the troops can be admitted to visit her? Somebody has to have a place to host her and the troops....

understandable....military is suppose to remain nonpolitical. But it isn't in fact... Note that Fort Hood's restrictions for her forthcoming visit are far looser than at Fort Bragg.
I also read in another thread that the CO's billet at Bragg is currently open, and that a scramble among the local brass is underway to fill it. I have no doubt that this is part of the jockeying.
I'm curious as to what kind of secret orders have gone out to the troops concerning Sarah's visit...

The Army is completely political. They have Mohammedan clerics give speeches here at Fort Benning. Affirmative Action is dominant. Other authors would not be so restricted.

I have had hope that at some point the military might step in to save us from the obamination - sort of like Honduras - but obviously they’re too busy being PC to lift a finger. Seeing Gen Casey on TV saying that loss of diversity would be worse than the Ft Hood lives that were lost told me that we are screwed.

Then there’s this:
Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum tells WTVD-TV that sales of Palin’s book at the post store have been weak so far.
I don’t suppose it occurred to tom that maybe buyers
were waiting for Sarah?
So the spokesman for the base is a civilian?

I'm in complete agreement with this...The US Armed Forces need to remain assiduously non-political--they need to go above and beyond the call of duty to maintain complete impartiality when it comes to politics. I don't like it when the dumbocrats do it, and I don't think it's appropriate for any Rs to do it either. The book signing is a commercial event anyway.

Where are the loud and screechie voices who spoke of censorship and the “cold wind” when we drove over our Dixie Chick CDs.
Censorship can only come from the Govt.
