C-SPAN 2 is carrying the Senate floor debate live this afternoon.
The Democrats control the floor right now. Earlier, Republican Senators Judd Gregg, Kit Bond, Jeff Sessions and David Vitter gave good speeches and dialogues on the budget-busting effects of ObamaCare.
Maria Cantwell is speaking now. Mary Landrieu is excpected to speak shortly.
The cloture vote is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST tonight.
The next round of unemployment numbers will help our talking points as well. We are drowing in debt and the RATS live in a fantasy world of more spending, more entitlements.
Were it not for the recession, some form of Obamacare would already be law.
The danger is if Reid can thread the needle and construct abortion language acceptable to both pro-abortion and pro-life Democratic senators.
We must stop this bill from getting to conference.
I’m ashamed and embarrassed for our country that a failed comedian who stole an election is speaking on the floor of the Senate about how Obamacare is going to be a great thing for all....
Senate_GOPs Study Finds That A Vote On Process Is A Vote For The Bill Study Finds That A Vote On Process Is A Vote For The Bill
A New Study Of Senate Voting Patterns Shows The Chamber Has Approved More Than 97 Percent Of All Bills Subject To A Cloture Motion To Begin Debate A Finding That Could Undercut Democratic Efforts To Paint A Key Health Care Vote On Saturday As Procedural. According to a new Congressional Research Service report, since 1999 the Senate has approved 97.6 percent of all bills when lawmakers first voted to begin debate. (CRS Report Shows Most Bills Subject To Cloture Pass, Roll Call, 11/19/09)
106th 110th Congress:

Kiss your freedoms goodbye
Congress recognizes no limits on its power. It doesnt care about the Constitution, it doesnt care about your inalienable rights. If this health care bill becomes law, America, life as you have known it, freedom as you have exercised it, and privacy as you have enjoyed it will cease to be.
False. Reid can still use reconcilation. The October 15 deadline means nothing.
That said, Reid promised Ben Nelson that he would not use reconciliation if Nelson voted YES tonight.
If that was the price, it was worth it. Now we’ll learn if Dirty Harry will keep his word. My sense is that he will, because many RAT senators do not want to go nuclear.
What’s with the “Lie-berman”? If Lieberman is joining the filibuster, then he’s our best friend.
Does anyone know if Robert Byrd is and how he is going to vote today?
What if he votes yes today and is “unable” to vote “later on”??
Sure the election in Minnesota was stolen, but the equal blame belongs to every brain-dead person who voted for Dean Barkley, the Jesse Ventura handmaiden who siphoned thousands and thousands of votes away from Coleman. Those people in my opinion deserve to be hung with piano wire - and I am not joking.
If this crap sack is passed tonight it is pretty much a done deal on the full bill and Reid knows it.
That is the only reason that they are doing this.
America is asleep and Reid and his evil cohorts are betting on it.
When is he joining?
It is an important vote. They are advancing the deathcare bill. Why let it get any closer?
“If there is not 60 votes to start the debate, the bill is probably dead.”
Let us all pray......
YES
Is Byrd there? Heard he was ill.
What other senators are not there?
interesting.
I read Reid had stated he will not go nuclear route and partly because this bill would be carved up in that process.
Statistically, 97% of the votes that start debate are passed. This is because it allows amendment to the bill and the cutting of deals. This is the best chance we have to stop it.
or will we find out now
the 100 million is the “up front” money for Mary’s district.
but how much under the table money (undisclosed) will grease her personal palm?
Arkansas’ Blanche Lincoln speech now—sounds like she’s going to be a YEA! vote, feh...
Oh, wait a minute, she’s talking about competition?! Can she shut this thing down?!? Come on, Blanche! Do the right thing!!
