Police detectives have not found a suicide note at the scene or at Scott’s home. But law enforcement sources say they are checking to see if Scott left one on his Blackberry, which was found on a concrete ledge near where his body was found.

Jones said the absence of a suicide note is common. In fact, fewer than half of people who commit suicide leave notes, she said.

Chicago police are still trying to find out who owned the .380 caliber pistol found under Scott’s body at the death scene. Scott’s family members have told investigators that the school board chief owned a gun, a law enforcement source said.

Help me out here.
Who is Scott?
And why is his suicide/murder? of interest to the mystery/murder thread of FR.

BTW yall have not had a long running arm chair detective mystery thread for a long time now.

Kinda miss the old days.

I suppose with Obama tv 24/7 the media does not follow these things.
Or there has not been a baffling one out there.
Same with serial killers I know they are still out there ie the creep next to the sausage factory who had a yard/house full of decomposed woman.

What slayed me about that one was all the years the Sausage factory spent time and money trying to get rid of the smell thinking it was there business as did the neighbors.

Gross huh it wasnt rotting sausage grease traps it was the neighbors rotting yard full of dead women.

“Because Scott landed in water, some evidence on his body was contaminated,”

Well, it is the Chicago River. I have a friend who works in an office building along the Chicago River, and when it rains really hard, he can watch the poo float by.

As for a note, they might want to check Fort Marcy Park, or a stray table in the White House, or a state trooper office in Arkansas.

Medical Examiner’s office investigators did not inspect the death scene because police didn’t notify them before Scott’s body was removed from the river, Jones said.

The body was found in a foot of water, no risk of washing away. Why would they remove the body before the medical examiner arrived at the scene?

I don’t watch crime shows because they’re too creepy. If a body is found in the water, can they still test the hand for gunpowder? If somebody were going to kill him and make it look like a suicide, wouldn’t they go through the due diligence to find out he’s left-handed, so why would the left-sided contact point be definitive? And why can’t a hit man press a gun close against the temple? Why would he shoot himself at a location where he just happened to fall into the water? Just wondering.

I understand why the Chicago police would not call the coroner's office. Why would anyone think foul play when you find a body face down in the Chicago river?

Also, I thought it was illegal to own a gun in Chicago.

I’ve always suspected that the Chinese demanded GHW Bush and then Clinton take out the Davidians at Waco, as a show of (1) a Chinese take on of leadership — that a leader can be be ruthless when needed. And (2) to provide a moral-equivalence cover for the Tiananmen square massacre.

Likewise given the coincidence of timing with the Chinese trip, I am suspicious of this school master’s death. Did the Chinese order it, as a result of Obama and Chicago’s Olympic fiasco and the heinous street killing of a good student outside a Chicago school. As a message about “Quality Control”?

Is it legal to own a handgun in Chicago?
