Some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- for self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his accomplices could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.
The Obama administration, in deciding to try alleged Sept. 11 conspirators in a New York courtroom, has said it is setting its sights on convictions, but some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.
One of those five defendants, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, has been at the center of the debate over those Bush-era polices, in particular the harsh interrogation techniques used on Mohammed and others in an effort to obtain information on Al Qaeda and any additional attacks.

With the marxists, there is always a hidden agenda.
Good question. He waited until he was on foreign soil to have holder make the announcement. He's a low class coward.
It's almost as if it was done deliberately for purposes of incitement. Why make such an announcement a week after the attack on Fort Hood? He had to have seen the radical muslims on the streets of NYC praising the actions of hasan last weekend. He is creating a potentially explosive situation. It's irresponsible, and as Giuliani said, unnecessary.
When Eric Holder first announced his "justice probe" against CIA agents several weeks ago, and astute columnist (I don't have the link right now) predicted the entire script:
1. Obama has to appease the kook left who are still rabid that GW Bush fought back against Muslim terrorists
2. Obama and Eric Holder would shift the trials from military to civilian courts, where the left wing loonies could have an open forum to atttack Bush, Republicans, the military, FBI, CIA, etc.
3. Obama would also use "world court" agencies to do his bidding for him, and then would stand back and deny he was doing this to avoid the public backlash
So far, Hussein is following this script to a T.
He has to appease this disgusting crowd, who are mostly also militant atheists and rabid socialists.
What could happen, is another attack (i.e. Fort Hood) that changes the equation, and forces the general public to focus again on what terrorism (specifically the Muslims) are all about.
Right now, New Yorkers are livid. You don't want to pi$$ off NYC firefighters or cops, and their families. Hussein has done just that.
Voters are increasingly turned off, and Michelle and Obama are still having "Conga Nite Wed" in the White House.
Maybe people would get off their collective duffs and combat the Marxist Tyranny that is the Zer0bama Administrunz*....(*Strunz means turd in Italian)
This will backfire on BO and Georgie Porgie Soros bigger than Health “Care” and the rest of his Socialist agenda....for it will show the world exactly who these people are, enablers and zealots. I actually wish Hillary would have beaten this guy/.
YA THINK?
Of course it is. The college fraternity hazing techniques we used against the terrorists aren't allowed in criminal prosecutions. The terrorists will be acquitted and be allowed to roam free in the USA. 0bama will go on and say "See? This is Bush's fault, he shouldn't have 'tortured' those poor, innocent people."
The perpetual candidate must keep this imaginary enemy alive to blame in the goal of whipping up votes.
Let’s see, um uh, who was President when the next terror attack on America happened since 9/11, er....Obama. Case closed. Not doing his job.
New York is getting what it voted for. A majority of the voting people in that state do bear some responsibility for this mess.
The thing is, when this happens, Americans will be glad to hear the measures the Bush Admin took to protect us, not the other way around. This will bite BO in the posterior.
Freepers were saying it during the Clinton administration, too. The prevailing thought was that he was going to declare martial law and suspend elections.
I don't care. I'm so sick of this divisiveness. We're all Americans, and I don't fall for that "Red State/Blue State" bull. This was an attack on AMERICA, not New York City. Whatever New Yorkers' politics, I don't let it affect my values.
Zero’s reason for putting out this piece of news on the trials in NY is intended to be a distraction. The real agenda is still the HEALTH CARE sham. Notice that each time Zero has some difficulties with his agenda, he takes the initiative by putting out news about terrorism that distracts everyone. Notice that the health care debate in the news has now been muffled because everyone’s attention is on the trials in NY.
This is the tactics of a person who obviously knows that there is something very important about the HEALTH CARE sham. So it is all the more important that Americans pay attention. If the HEALTH CARE sham passes, there may be be a lot of consequences that will fundamentally change American society.
Zero is attacking the Bush administration for being anti-abortion. The whole Zero agenda is Abortion...trust me this is what it is about... the devil’s goal is to destroy the human child...if we are all built to Christ’s likeness... the opposition to the child is the Anti Christ.
Evil has a name...this is not just pure politics...it has taken more than 1400 years to reach this point. the great battle beckons...God will triumph but not before man has made all the silly mistakes.
You better believe it!
Obama looking to regain some street cred by putting waterboarding on trial. There’s nothing more to it than that.
It fits right along with islamist vs. America war theory for a muslim to get on the jury by promising to be impartial - probably even saying they hate the radical - and then work for the defense in the jury room to work for acquital.
If it turns into a Bush trial, I imagine 0 will refuse to comment on the case. Even if he expresses dismay over it, hell still allow it to go through.
Not quite. 0 will say “I’d rather not comment on it” and then launch into a 10 minute monologue about it.
