The senior heads of the Quartet, including Pres. Obama, gutted the Road Map. The Road Map had at its core the principle of reciprocity. It required the Arabs to take certain steps to end the conflict (such as end incitement to war and dissolve terrorism), and that would require Israel in the next phase to make some concessions. The Quartet unilaterally declared specifically that reciprocity no longer is required. This means that the Arabs can stall, keep up their terrorism, while the Quartet would expect Israel to make concessions to people demonstrating disinterest in peace.
President Obama further unbalanced the agreement by no longer referring to UN Resolution 242 which called for just some Israeli withdrawal, but indicated he wanted a total withdrawal [without justifying it]. This contradicts former President Bushs letter to former PM Sharon, stating that it was unrealistic to expect that Israel would withdraw from its large population centers in the West Bank. This acknowledgment of the settlement blocs granted a portion of the settlements a degree of legitimacy that Obama's formal remarks denied. Bushs letter got bi-partisan congressional endorsement, including by Rep. Rahm Immanuel and Sen. Clinton [who now dont remember it].
The Quartet statement also supports Palestinian Authority (P.A.) PM Fayeds plan for establishing the institutions of statehood, without obligations on their part, but leaving the P.A. in a position to declare independence, or for the UN to do so, without having resolved the P.A. bases for having made war on Israel. The Quartet thus has removed P.A. incentives to negotiate fairly. It has given the P.A. an incentive to further work to de-legitimize Israel.
It is up to Israeli diplomats to insist on Israels rights and to retrieve the promises and guarantees made to it (www.imra.org.il, 10/2 from Jer. Post).
We see international perfidy against Israel. Israel should have rejected outside mediation in the first place. It cannot trust the U.S. or other foreign entities. They dont keep their agreements. They prefer the terrorists. They have the double standard and arrogance to unilaterally change agreements, and demand that Israel adhere to its part in them and not that the Arabs do. Quartet policies are disastrous for Israel and beneficial for war.

Obama is going to use his thug tactics against Israel.
The US jews have better get behind Israel and tell Obama where they stand or the future looks grim.
I think this is helping to create a clearer picture of the Bush administrations efforts to side with Israel, despite my occasional unhappiness with Condi Rice using the word appartheid in referrence to the Country. I think she was not helpful in this area in general.
I’m pro-Israel. Perhaps if the Palis had classes for their children teaching them that living in peace with Jews was a goal, I might have some sympathy. But that’s not what they do. They instruct toddlers to kill Jews. This is not a hopeful scenario. It is what they want.
I see this as an opportunity for Bibi to kick Obama’s between the legs. There are several ways to do this immediately. ‘Nuff said on FR.
Israel should say nobama to islamists like him.
They already did. They overwhelmingly voted for 0. The chief of staff is a liberal Jew. IOW, the vast majority of American Jews could care less about Israel.
The greatest supporters of Israel in America are Born Again Christians. They did not support 0. The 0 admin. doesn't listen to them and it sure doesn't listen to Israel.
Bibi will make Obama look like the left wing Muslim-loving creep that he is. Obama is not just intent on destroying our American way of life, he is out for the total destruction of Israel. One has to wonder just how so many American Jews could have voted for this creep. Israel’s best friends are American Christians.
Which makes peace impossible. GWB's heart was in the right place, but he accomplished nothing, despite raising the conflict to the number one priority for his administration. A mistake, it did nothing but empower the palestinians.
Political Jihad....there’s no longer any doubt.
Ain't gonna happen....democrapitude is ingrained, for whatever mysterious reason. Continued lockstep.
No one ever addresses what they are teaching their children. No one exposes it. I do not understand the unspoken taboo. They have no desire for peace and their end game is to destroy Israel and the Jews.
Unwillingness to admit and speak the truth may be a sign of cleverness in the diplomatic world, but it does no good for real people living in a real world.
Trying to be reasonable achieves nothing for Israel. The reasonable is ignored by the principals. So clearly their path lies in being unreasonable.
The old Soviet Union could not pay its scientists great amounts of money as was done in America. So how did they motivate their scientists? By taking away all they had, and leaving them with barely enough to survive. Thus, if they made a valuable discovery, they could be given the merest of rewards, and it would be of great value to them.
Perhaps and extra blanket for their bed. An extra potato with lunch. These are powerful motivators when you are cold and hungry.
So this is how Israel should deal with the Palestinians.
Importantly, in Islam, what truly matters in life is reduced to just one thing: land.
Not peace, not prosperity, not health or wealth. The successful Muslim is one who has increased the land of the Ummah. They are tolerable if the just keep the status quo. But for a Muslim to lose “Muslim land” to infidels is the most terrible thing in the world for them.
They are in shame before their religion, their family and their people.
So when anyone talks to them, land is all they want to talk about. Specifically any and all land they can get. Anything else is unimportant, and are just means to getting land. All the land in the world.
Listen to them, and you will always hear that refrain: land, land, land.
This is why nothing the Israelis can do, other than to surrender all the land of Israel to Muslims, is sufficient. Were the Jews to do this, they could leave in peace, until Muslims again wanted the new land the Jews had occupied.
So the Israelis need to behave like Russians when it comes to land.
When the Palestinians or other Muslims attack them, Israel must always take away some of their land as punishment. Importantly, it must be taken with the clear understanding that it will, and can, never, ever be returned.
No matter what the Palestinians do. No matter what all the other nations of the world do. Never again can that land be “Muslim land”. It does not matter if it is fertile farmland, or barren desert, contaminated with toxic filth.
If it is even mentioned, Israel must end the discussion right there.
Of course, the rest of the world, who do not know of this Muslim eccentricity, will think that Israel is insane. “What does it matter? It is nothing! Just a sliver of land! Worthless!”
But the Muslims will scream like their feet have been immersed in boiling tar. Like they scream about the Golan Heights. Like they scream about any other sliver of land.
Yet there is the key. If Israel is firm that the land will never again be “Muslim land”, and they are even more firm that with the next attack, even more land will be taken away, for once it might actually give the Palestinians pause.
Their only options at that point are to lose more land, and be in disgrace, or to stop attacking, and try through some other connivance to get the land back.
They will scream and cry to the world, demanding the land as a “show of good faith”. They will promise peace and tranquility. They will offer this, and threaten that, and piss and moan. But Israel must be unreasonably firm.
Because if Israel cedes even a square inch of land back, the Palestinians will be emboldened a hundred times over.
I don't either. Sometimes I think the world does understand, but that the unspoken taboo is the acceptance of the destruction of Israel.
For your pingage.
Wait till G_d gets done with him..........
Thank you!
