MSNBC and Bloomberg are reporting that the Obama administration is denying reports by CBS News and the AP that Obama has decided to send nearly 40,000 reinforcements to Afghanistan.
Both outlets report that Obama has not received final recommendations from his advisers and he would then need time to review them.
Bloomberg cited an e-mailed statement by National Security Adviser Jim Jones that flatly denied a decision had been made by Obama.
Afghan theater Gen. Stanley McChrystal requested 40,000 to 80,000 troops in August saying the war could be lost in twelve months if his request is not met. Three months later Obama has yet to decide on that urgent request.

Both senior administration officials insisted Obama has not made any decision on troop levels in Afghanistan, noting the President has another meeting with his national security team on Wednesday to receive a final set of recommendations from the Pentagon brass. The senior officials said the president could not possibly make a decision on troop levels before even receiving the Pentagons final recommendations.
The leaks in question enraged White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, who had discussions today with Pentagon officials about the reports.>

“White House shoots down...”
I can just see M. Antoinette standing out on the lawn with her RPG launcher.
Can’t you?
Glitch in the prompter feed.
I wish he was an empty suit, but his suit is filled, and filled with hatred of the U.S. and Christianity.
Well, of course! I mean, only 3.3 months to evaluate a critical request from your chief military officer prosecuting the war? Really now, what's the rush?!?!
/S
There’s dithering.
Then there’s dithering!
0bama is a failure as a leader.
All his present votes as a state senator were a clear indication to all of us he is not capable of making decisions.
FAILURE.
ditherer in chief
I knew sending troops was too sensible to be coming out of this White House. They have to worry about important things, like wrecking the healthcare system and worrying about discrimination against muslims.
Really, this Administration is on it’s own planet. The Democrats should be embarassed, but they’re not.
How about you (the big O) just say that Bush ordered them to go BEFORE he left office.
I dont think Barry will send more US troops against his “brothers”
Yep, oboros stuck his finger into the wind and it said retreat. He has all the failings of carter and clinton.
One he's demoralizing the troops and secondly he's hoping that the region explodes so the nukes that Pakistan has ends up the hands of the radical mussies...
Ah, another lead trial balloon shot down by the radical factions of the Democratic Party.
The longer they drive the Democratic agenda, the more likely they are to fail!
“Both outlets report that Obama has not received final recommendations from his advisers and he would then need time to review them.”
Yeah, that ought to buy a good six or nine months MORE.
Good GOD! This is bordering on treason in itself to have orders to go to war and know you can’t defend yourself due to the rules of engagement and no back up??
LOL!
So, Obama’s indecisiveness has become so legendary that his merely arriving at a decision becomes news. ...News which the White House has to deny because Obama still needs more time to make a decision.
He does not want to rush to judgment
The Weakling will not send any troops until AFTER he has gone to Norway to collect his “Peace Prize”.
