A governor for 10 years and the winner of the Iowa caucuses in 2008, Huckabee should by all rights have a claim to be the early favorite for the Republican nomination. But former Gov. Mitt Romney, the candidate he bested in Iowa 2008 and for whom he does not attempt to contain his contempt, is riding high, credited by many Republicans as the best person to run against President Barack Obama in a down economy. And as Huckabee works his way through a 22-state tour for his new book, A Simple Christmas, he knows that he and the book will be almost entirely overshadowed by former Gov. Sarah Palins two-week barnstorming tour for her forthcoming memoir.

If it’s huck, nevermind.
If you couldn't convince us this last time, what makes you think we are all stupid enough to let you get the nod, the next time?
Signed,
PS.
Just because Huckabee is a Baptist minister does not make him a conservative. He is a statist.
There’s something smarmy about this dude.
Steele has NOTHING to do with it. It's the Drive-Bys who are pushing the RINO candidates. This Politico push piece is a clear example.
Yep.
I know I’ve been pretty harsh with regard to Romney, so I’d like to address his potential candidacy one more time.
He is perhaps the best qualified person to be the next Republican Presidential nominee, if you want Obama to serve a second term.
Sorry but the preseason favorites are
Mitt
Huck
Pawlenty
Palin
In that order too.
So will FNC give equal time to all other candidates?
“Steele has NOTHING to do with it.”
Really? The chairman of the RNC has nothing to say about candidate funding, or steering the selection process?
Silly me, I thought the chairman of the RNC did something besides stick his foot in his mouth.
So Huckabug uses his religion for political gain, again.
I know that one should never say never, but I would NEVER vote for that worm.
Go away Huck(ster)
Romney said a lot of things, unfortunately what he said never lived up to what he DID! Gay marriage as a national issue is completely due to his ineptitude in handling it in his state, and he brought us OBAMACARE PARTI, etc etc etc.
Romneys actions don’t live up to his rhetoric and the voters saw through it in 08, and they sure won’t have time for his nonsense in 12. He was DOA in ‘o8 way early on and just kept spending his own money hoping folks would eventually fall for the lies he was selling. Didn’t work then, and definitely won’t work in 12.
These guys are welcome in the party, but by no remote definition are either one of these guys true conservatives, they are two faced liars when it comes to actions vs rhetoric. If we wanted that, we’d vote democrat in the first place. They are welcome in the party, but they have ZERO chance at being the nominee and are a distraction.
None of the 2008 crop of Presidential Candidates has any real shot at 2012... The conservative rebirth and awakening in the politically inactive thanks to Pelosi and Fauxbama guarantee that none of those wishy washy folks have a chance.
‘10 and ‘12 are RINO and DONKEY hunt seasons, Huck and Mitt have zero chance.
Running Gomer Pyle for President just cannot work. The GOP had better not pick our nominee for us again this time around, or they will find themselves having a hard time affording paper to print their propaganda on.
Huckabee made sure we got McCain without a voice in the matter. Never forget.
I think you sell the RNC Chairman short. He has the power to influence how Republicans conduct their in-state nominating processes. If they allow open elections where Democrats can cross over and elect our nominee for us, it’s partially his fault.
I don’t think Steele is doing a thing to clean up our nominating process. So I do hold him at the very least partially responsible for folks like McCain becoming our candidate.
Further, I believe your comment here shows how successful the RNC has been at hiding it’s duplicity in all this.
Interesting how the so-called MSM keeps pushing Romney, Huck, and TPaw as the best candidates while they keep up their assault on Palin, still lying about and smearing her, running phony polls, etc. Does anyone think for a minute that if Romney or Huck or TPaw were even capable of coming close to defeating 0bama, the MSM would be promoting them instead of attacking them?
Yeah, just go away. All the Huckster can do is sabotage some real conservatives chance at the nomination again.
