Pelosi has the votes
The Politico ^ | November 7, 2009 | Ben Smith

Posted on 11/07/2009 6:23:21 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

POLITICO reports:

Hours before an expected vote on a sweeping health care bill, House Democrats believe they've secured the 218 votes they need to approve the bill, several party insiders said.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the House floor about 6:30 p.m. to say, “Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act.. . .We will make history. We will also make progress for America's working families."

Thirty-two Democrats have publicly declared their opposition to the bill, giving party leaders the narrowest possible margin to push the bill across the finish line. But numerous sources said Democrats believe they do have the votes after a day of intense lobbying of wavering Democrats.

If my family loves me then they will understand. They might not agree with me..but they should understand.

As far as getting arrested, its the sentencing part that is frightening. And the fines, the nuking of your credit, the mass invasion of privacy regarding your bank account info over to govt bureaucrats, etc. That is worth dying for to preserve..one’s liberty, privacy, and property.

If they arrest you, thereafter upon your release you may not be able to own a gun, depending on what they charge you with. What a travesty our justice system is.

OK — I understand where you’re coming from.

It’s OK — those of us who stand up to the ongoing tyranny will let you live in our “new and improved” US of A when it’s all said and done. Heck, we’ll even lower your taxes, if we tax at all.

It’s certainly your choice ... hope you can live it. You can tell your grandchildren how you stood and watched while others did the dirty work for you.

I am glad you understand where I am coming from..and I understand you. Everyone is frustrated..well, everyone that gets it.

I wish you well. I hope you find a large group of like minded people.

Good luck.

Sometimes it takes an egregious act against a handful of individuals to bring the picture into sharp relief for the remainder of the population. The American Revolution was no more energized than we presently are, just an informed, agitated minority, and had much a weaker communication system in place than we do. If the alternative media can survive long enough, and project images of ordinary Americans, disabled vets, grandma’s, and other stereotype-busters being hauled off to jail because they won’t submit to federal heath-control, you betcha there’s going to be a dramatic expansion of people willing to join the effort. Rosa Parks was just one person. Gandhi was just one person. It can happen.

So don’t turn the question into one of pragmatics. Anybody can cope with a tyranny by sucking up to the tyrant du jour. Nuremburg had plenty of defendants who became involved in the unthinkable because they gave in to the “inevitable,” who thought they could survive by “just following orders” despite the deeper commands of conscience. But history has written them a harsher sentence than those who stood, sometimes quite alone, on the solid rock of principled response to unprincipled governance. Those who do not have the courage of their convictions may run with the former if they wish. For my part, I will go with the latter.

In the NY23, Dede made it clear she opposed the election.

One thing for sure if the third party candidate did not sabotage the Republican nominee, the Republican nominee would have won and ONE LESS VOTE for the PUBLIC OPTION!!

The blame lies with Hoffman, Palin, Beck etc for effectively dividing the Republican vote and getting a democrat elected in the NY23 district.

If you used your head and did some research it would be very clear that Dede opposed the public option and made absolutely clear she would vote against it.

Hoffman sabotaged a easy Republican win in the district, getting a Dem elected and one more vote for the public option.

Now since the public option has passed Congress with a tight margin when every vote made a difference, there are lot of Republicans who will not forget this act of treachery by those who endorsed Hoffman and their presidential aspirations will not be succesful.

The next logical step will be a court challenge of the bill’s constitutionality.

He was cackling like a girl, joking and laughing on Fox (I think with Geraldo? I'm losing my mind) right after the announcement. Just like I couldn't believe the "news conference" the other day from Hussein, I couldn't believe how happy Steele sounded tonight. Am I still on our planet???? Did I fall down Alice's rabbit hole??

I feel like I, or we, have fallen into some sort of crack in the space-time continuum and ended up into a weird parallel Earth. Welcome to Bizarro World.

Obama plans on full control and destruction of everything we know , everything this country was. We have the ENEMY of AMERICA in the White house. this is a nightmare beyond words.

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." - Thomas Jefferson

"In free governments the rulers are the servants and the people their superiors and sovereigns." - Benjamin Franklin

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government." - Thomas Paine

"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure." - Thomas Jefferson

It's Sunday. Time to reflect, ponder all things deeply, plan and prepare.

I’m not “feeling sorry for myself”. I’m FRUSTRATED. And I have no recourse.

As to your second point, I didn’t expect this to pass the House. Surely you have read what these people have voted for! I am STUNNED that this bill with its tax hikes and provisions for illegal aliens got a majority!

So now I’m nervous: what makes you so sure it will fail in the Senate? What makes you so sure that the court system (after being packed with a bunch of Obama Judges) will strike this down?

You’re damn straight it makes me scared!

Well, first, sorry if I mistook your frustration for self-pity. In me, it’s indistinguishable.

Second, I do get how bad the bill is, and I did not say anything to suggest how I think it will do in the Senate.

Third, as for SCOTUS, it is not yet “packed with Obama judges.” Nevertheless, FDR attacked SCOTUS with the threat of adding new judges to get the result he wanted, so yes, something similar could happen again, or something even murkier.

The point is this. When we run within ourselves to chaotic, agitated thinking rather than facing down our foes with clear minds and indestructible determination, we give the game away, we grant our opponents power over us to which they are not entitled. We have too many people depending on us to give in to the rich luxury of frustration, however reasonable it may seem to do so.

Note that I said Court system, not Supreme Court.

There’s no guarentee the Supreme Court would accept the case.
