That’s right. They are voting now. Vote is currently 206-173 to pass the Stupak Amendment. It needs 218 to pass.

Now 238-191

That will make it easier for Blue Dogs to vote for the Health Care Bill - at least in their minds.

Great!

Now, how do we stop the entire bill from passing?

I just caught that as well .... sorry for the earlier misinformation. It does not bode well that they have just voted themselves a little buffer.

The RATS outsmarted the GOP. They put up enough Yea votes to pass it. Just goes to show that they really don’t care about the abortion issue as much as they care about the overall govt takeover. That trumps everything.

I dunno...I was kind of feeling the only way to stop it at this point was to not let this pass. If it’s inevitable that it does, I at least hope this part stays in. I have serious doubts about that though.

“And even if it gets through the Senate, it is destined to proceed right on to the Supreme Court.”

Wishful thinking. We thought McCain-Feingold was unconstitutional as well, buts its stuck around.

Kill it now, kill it dead. it will destroy American freedom and prosperity.

Strictly a hypothetical question now that it’s passed, but what do the rules say about a situation in which, say, 75 Republicans had voted “present” and kept either side from getting 218?
