FN Five-Seven.
He would need military ammo to pierce body armor with that gun, and he couldn’t possibly get access to that.... oh wait.
It didn’t take long for the vultures to start circling.
With this angle maybe the Democrats will finally pay attention to this story and call for handgun bans. Oh, wait, President Obama isn’t for that. (giggle) So we’re safe.
Fortunately, there’s pretty stringent gun control at our nation’s airports, so we don’t have to worry about Muslim attacks on our airplanes...
Oh wait...
And, the AP ammo is virtually impossible to come by. There's no indication that he used anything other than the standard NATO round, in his attack.
I’m not familiar with this gun at all. Do you know how many bullets the clip holds. If he fired 100 rounds he must have had several clips with him all preloaded.
Any gun can be a cop killing gun.
THe significant thing abiout this gun is that the ammo was developed by FN for the FN 5.7 hand gun and the FN bull pup style full auto carbine.
Out of the FN pistol, this ammo reaches muzzle velocity between 1800 and 1900 fps, near rifle velocity. That is why only jhp ammo is available to civilians. The military ammo can pierce class II body armor.Military 5.7 x 28 mm ammo is not available to civilians.
This is not anymore a cop killing gun than any gun.But it has a 20 + 1 mag. Lots of shooting without recharging the gun, and the high velocity ammo would go through three bodies before exhausting itself, like a rifle.Hasan’s purchase looks premeditated.
An active duty US Army Major was able to purchase a gun legally??
The horror..!
(Seriously? The AP considers this newsworthy?)
Some indoor ranges don’t allow the 5.7 round. Have you had a chance to fire one? They’re pretty reliable, accurate, light weight, low in recoil but they produce a BIG flash and sound like a cannon. It’s a little big to carry but any gun can be carried if you want to badly enough. Ammo is readily available and one of the few that didn’t double in price. Quality gun IMO. However, there was one incident where one blew up in someone’s hand but he was reloading. FN blamed it on the reloads, guess we will never know for sure. Still a poor choice for what he wanted it for. He could have done more damage with a .45 but it’s good he did use the 5.7 because many of the bullets probably passed through and out without doing too much internal damage.
The Muzzie bastard must have had at least 5 clips ready to go if he fired over 100 rounds in a short time. If he wasn’t at the range and had 5 clips ready to rock and roll, he planned to take out a lot of people as fast as he could.
I find it hard to believe that with so many people around, he could reload that thing at least FIVE times without someone taking him out. He had to fire 20 times, insert a new mag, and repeat 4 more times. Hard to believe he could do that on a base with so many others around. I’m still not buying the story that he acted alone.
Already asked on another thread, but here goes anyway, Can you C/C on base??
Hey has anyone figured out why a United States hating, Islamic fundamentalist would possibly shoot a bunch of fellow soldiers? It’s a mystery apparently.
Shot placement rules the day.
Most any firearm can be deadly in well-trained hands.
Only in America.
Let's KEEP IT THAT WAY (Just Say NO To SOCIALISM).
“Cop-killing”? Are you Chuck Schumer??
