To: Avoiding_Sulla

As I gave thought to the senseless loss of life and the impact the attack would have on fellow service members, family members, friends, the community and the military services in general, the word tragedy did come to mind, and I had a gelding moment.

I referred to this as a tragedy. It was other things as well. It was outrageous. It was senseless. It was indefensible.

It is also a personal tragedy for many people.

I understand the thought behind your comments. I don’t want to see the impact of this event to be downplay by a poor choice of words any more than you do.
