Gingrich on NY-23: Conservatives have every right to be angry at me (with video)
Hot Air ^ | Nov. 4, 2009 | Allahpundit

People are buzzing about this online but I’m not sure why. “I regret deeply that she was chosen,” he says of Scozzafava in an apparent reversal of his prior support. Except it’s not a reversal: He admitted to Andrew Wilkow way back on October 21 that she’s not the person he would have nominated. His endorsement was always strategic, to support Republican leaders at the local level and dissuade third-party challenges next year.

Why Republicans in a district where there’s no primary should defer to party leaders instead of rallying behind their preferred candidate is a question left unanswered, but that may be because it’s unasked. Ah well.

Why Hannity continues to prop this fool up is beyond me.

Sean is cruising very close to permanently damaging his credibility with the public by continuing to align himself with Newt as closely as he has.

He said on his show today that he'd gotten a ton of negative email about "his buddy, Newt". He had Newt on the show today, to give him a chance to explain himself. Newt came on and blew a golden opportunity to get back into our good graces. A lot of people were waiting for this moment, and Newt did not come right out and say that he made a huge mistake, like he should have.

Today's Hannity show may have been Newt's last opportunity to save himself, but he chose to be right, instead of truthful. That's a bigger mistake than the first one, and has now compounded the mistrust we feel toward him.

He's now left Hannity in the unenviable position of having to clip his connections to him, or to his audience and the building patriot revolution.

Sean will write his own ticket to obscurity if he chooses wrongly. It would be sad to see. He's a good guy, and has been one of conservatism's most vocal crusaders for a long time now. I hope he chooses wisely.

No, Hannity would never support a RINO. He had his friend Newt on his show and gave him air time and that’s what we’re mad about. Newt is the one who supported Scuzzballin NY’s 23rd district...

Yeah I heard him, Laura was great she didn’t let it slide; “as compared to who” she asked. Davis had no response. “er.agh if I could finish.” is all he could say.

Politicians are like restaurant owners; the reason most restaurants fold is because the owners who handle a lot of money day to day forget that less than 10% of it is theirs.
Politicians govern thousands, tens of thousands, or millions of people but once in office they forget that only a those people actually elect them to office.
30 years as a chef, I’ve worked for too many stupid restaurant owners.

Newt was the Speaker, ok that’s one. He came up with Contract with America and won a bunch of seats, that’s 2. What’s he done since?

After ousting Jim Wright over a shady book deal to claim the Speaker position, Newt was accused of a shady PAC deal in retaliation. That's -1.

In order to cover the costs of an ethics fine resulting from a shady PAC, Gingrich borrows $300,000 from Sen. Bob Dole in a sweetheart deal. That's -2.

He came up with Contract with America and won a bunch of seats,

NOPE Contract was a good thing but it had nothing to do with the 94 results although delusional Newt still thinks he was the cause

It was ENTIRELY GRASSROOTS just like the TEA PARTIES

Gun Owners and Christian Conservatives came out in droves because of Clinton's Gun Bans and Abortion and Gays in the Military policies

I agree! Hannity is awful with his silly repetion of “You’re a great American” and his freedom tours (or whatever he calls them). He is like most politicians and pundits - only in it for the money, the fame, and the power. I think he just listens to Rush and Beck and then parrots some of their lines on his own show.

When I heard Newt’s voice on the radio today, I immediately switched to something else. Newt’s name ought to be spelled W-E-A-S-E-L.

And I agree with you Mross - I don’t like politicians, either. They all get elected based on fear mongering and promising things they know they cannot deliver, and then do nothing but enrich themselves once elected. Why we continue to believe any of them is beyond me.

And Dole gets all his money from Archer Daniels Midland so that Dole always voted for as many ag subsidies as possible.

“I regret deeply that she was chosen,”

Not much of an apology. I deeply regret that Newt still gets air time.

I’m rather upset at those who are bad mouthing Hannity. He’s done a good job at pushing the Conservative agenda. Sure, I can’t stand Bob Beckel or Newt, but, who are we to judge others? Learn to walk in love with those you disagree with. Unless that person is obamma, then I digress. Just kidding, but, in reality we are to - hate the sin - love the sinner.
