What Last Night Means

NRCC

Dear Supporter,

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and provide you with a short synopsis of what last night means. Obviously, Virginia and New Jersey now have Republican Governors, but what else can we derive from last night's results in those states and across the country?

Below is a short synopsis, but if you would like to read our full memo on what the Virginia results mean, please click here.

In VA-02, Democrat Rep. Nye's seat, Governor-elect Bob McDonnell garnered 61.9% of the vote, winning by an impressive 23.8%. Nye is the only incumbent in the country who faces two challengers with over $400,000 in the bank. Additionally, down-ballot, GOP challengers knocked off two Democrat state delegates in Virginia Beach districts that pulled the lever for Obama in 2008.

In VA-05, Democrat Rep. Perriello's seat, Governor-elect Bob McDonnell garnering 61.4% of the vote, cruising to a victory of 22.9% The Washington Post ranks Perriello the most vulnerable Democrat in 2010 and last night's results will do nothing to improve his re-election chances. Down-ballot, two GOP state delegates targeted for defeat by Democrats won landslide re-elections. Del. Rob Bell of the Charlottesville area - which Deeds represents in the state Senate - prevailed by nearly 35 points in a swing seat, and Del. Danny Marshall beat the former mayor of Danville by nearly 30 points in a district that just last year handed Obama a 7-point victory.

In VA-09, Democrat Rep Boucher's seat, Governor-elect Bob McDonnell garnered 66.2% of the vote, earning a 32.5% margin of victory. Down-ballot - in a district that favored Creigh Deeds in 2005 and Jim Webb in 2006 - Democrat Del. Dan Bowling went down to a stunning 14-point defeat at the hands of Will Morefield, a Republican upstart who ran his campaign largely against the devastating cap-and-trade bill Boucher championed.

In VA-11, Democrat Rep Connolly's seat, Governor-elect Bob McDonnell garnered 55.1% of the vote, pulling away by 10.4%. Connolly has carved a record as one of the most partisan Members of Congress - a record he will have to defend against a strong opponent in 2010. Down-ballot, Democrat Del. Paul Nichols lost a seat in the heart of Connolly's district that went for Obama by 19% just one year ago. Democrat Del. Chuck Caputo, who represents a small piece of the 11th Congressional District in the General Assembly, also lost his re-election bid.

Additionally, there was a special election in Michigan to fill the open State Senate seat of freshman Democrat Mark Schauer (MI-07). There, Republican candidate state Rep. Mike Nofs of Battle Creek garnered over 61% of the vote (the same percentage Schauer took when he won the seat in 2006). Nofs' defeated opponent went on to state, "What can I say? It's a Republican year. The Obama euphoria is over."

Finally, Democrats will try to spin Bill Owens' victory in the special election in New York to stop the growing momentum for Republicans. But as our Chairman said, "The election in New York may provide a momentary victory for Democrats, but the results in two gubernatorial contests tell us more about what 2010 holds in store for the party in power. Despite the unusual circumstances in this race, if we have learned anything from these across-the-board results it is that independent voters are dissatisfied with the direction that Democrats are taking this country and moving away from them at a rapid pace."

Thank you again for your continued support. Let's continue to keep the pressure on the Democrats and work towards greater success in November 2010.

Apparently, one thing they didn't learn from all this is that a RINO put up by the Republican Party elders can be completely clobbered by a third-party candidate who actually follows what are supposed to be Republican principles.

The RNC gets it wrong again. Voters chose conservatives, not republicanism-as-usual.

I just got off the phone with the RNC. I voiced my displeasure and let them we would be donating directly to CONSERVATIVE candidates of ur choice rather than the RNC as we have done in the past. I also told them I would never again hold my nose and vote “R” out of loyalty. If the “R” is not conservative, I will vote 3rd party or stay home.

The young man I spoke with was quite pleasant and said they were getting many calls with the same message that I had. Get a clue Steele! Return to conservative Reagan principles or pay the the price......red

I have yet to hear any RNC/NRCC acolyte express any regret for not vetting Scozzafava before handing her $900K!

I returned a couple GOP fund raising letters similarly expressing my opinions.

What struck me was that on both of the three pages of opinion questions, not one asked about shrinking the government or cutting spending.

If the Republicans no longer even pretend to be the Party of smaller government and cutting spending, what is their reason to exist?

What a bunch of Bovine Excrement!

This frikin retarded moron, completely ignores their duplicity and fault in the loss and claims it was the independent voters who are dissatisfied with the "Direction that Democrats are taking this country."

Hey ASS HAT, what about the Conservatives who are dissatisfied with you RINO-Supporting wusses who even in this release are afraid of condemning the Fascist Messiah.

I don't know how we can get the message out to enough people that they need to stop contributing until and unless they clean house and start pushing back against the RATS, & DEAR LEADER, embrace "CONSERVATIVE" principles and quit supporting RINO's.

Is it possible to boycott the RNC???
