With Yucca Mountain going down, we need to keep this alternative available...between killing this project and the Cap and TAX looming, this could be a serious blow...and some of these stupid Congresscretins might see it - especially on CNN...

Your use of the word Nukes, makes it appear to be about nuclear weapons, not power.

It doesn’t let you vote.

It says “Thank for your vote” when the page first opened.

The Europeans, France in particular, have been benefiting from nuclear power for 30 years; 98 percent of their electricity is nuclear-generated. They generate enough to sell it to other countries. Lucky for them the “China Syndrome” wasn’t made in French. Sucks to be us, when a cheesy, fictional piece of propaganda, starring Jane Fonda no less, can stymie an entire industry and technology. Jobs, prosperity, affordable electricity, why can’t we have some?

Of course, the Palo Verde fiascos, early in its history, didn’t help things.

I worked for Babcock & Wilcox NPGD back in the 70’s and I seem to remember they had the last 2 orders for Nuclear Power Plants (which were cancelled). Jimmah Carter used 3 Mile Island to destroy nuclear power. TMI was a accident and the system worked. Plus TMI had a containment vessel that was not present at Chernobyl.

I’m a computer guy, so I can’t speak to technical aspects of nuclear. I heard back then that the one lesson B&W learned was pipes used for contaminated water (the inner loop) wore out a lot faster than expected due to the high pressure, and heat. Also, I learned the guys who worked TMI accident didn’t have a sense of humor...

What do you do with the waste? Store it under ground in my state for a gazillion years? I don’t like that idea.

“What do you do with the waste? Store it under ground in my state for a gazillion years? I don’t like that idea.”

Why? Afraid it might not be safe in the year 20,000,000,000?
The best method is to re-process. Considering most of the SANE world uses nukes, they just are not that dangerous. Re-processing is the best method, in my opinion, but the lib wristed eco-freaks have scared the public about that...

If you are really interested, this is a good read;

And, in the year 20,000,000,000 when this stuff MIGHT be hazardous, it will be a threat to Hanford????

We have nuclear subs around the globe for dozens of years, France has a country full of them and we are going broke and making our enemies wealthy beyond imagination because of the NIMBY’s here...I don’t get it...and yes, if your next question is would I be for it if it was in my backyard the answer is yes...but we have a multi-year, multi-billion dollar hole in the ground in NV that will not be used for it because of the NIMBY’s...

Yes I know, Bangor Sub base is also close. Calm down just because I don’t think like you doesn’t mean I am stupid. I just don’t like it. Nothing will change my mind. There are other ways, they just won’t promote them.

I’m calm. Didn’t think you were stupid and I don’t think I said so...if I did, I apologize. I don’t understand the fear and I know of no more practical a solution. I surfed a million times near San Onofre, live nearby, don’t share the concern. that’s all...
