I just looked at the voter registration for NJ,its really out of whack. Almost 2:1 dems over pubbies and an enormous unaffiliated registration.

I was #94 this morning at Hungary Creek at 7:30 am. The only campaign worker outside was for McDonnell (and a cutie at that).
Anyway, not very crowded but a steady flow. For some reason my polling place insists on cramming the last thirteen letters of the alphabet into one table, which was were the line was (the other two tables stood empty).

McDonnell up by 26% with 26% of the electorate reported. Let me guess....the MSM is saying it’s “too close to call”.

keep in mind, even whitman’s wins were by 1 pt. 49-48 in 93 and 47-46 in 97.
The last real solid GOP win was when Bush41 won NJ by around 56-42 against the Duke.
to lose NJ is a big deal. to lose it by a solid margin is even bigger. to lose it after Obama showed up multiple times and basically inserted himself into the race is even bigger still.
things like this also help in presidential and senate elections. To have a GOP Gov, especially if Christie ends up doing well and turning things around, or even gets lucky and just gets the credit for the inevitable economic recovery, would really improve the GOP’s chances in 2012.

Precincts are weighted by party. They can have a certain percent of the total vote in, but a heavily weighted, large district can still turn it, so they wait for certain precincts that are heavily weighted to come in and then project the other precincts similarly weighted. They also get total number of votes cast to use as a parameter in which they compute what percent of the vote each candidate will get and can then call it.
