That's the amount of money that Conservative party nominee Doug Hoffman raised online in the last seven days in support of his candidacy in the special election in New York's 23rd district, according to a source close to the campaign.
The source would not speculate on what Hoffman's total raised number would be when reports are filed with the Federal Election by midnight tonight. But, his Internet haul almost certainly means he will outdistance state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, the Republican nominee, who, party strategists acknowledge, will post a very weak report. (Hoffman, Scozzafava nor Democrat Bill Owens had filed their reports at press time.)
Hoffman's startling success in raising cash on the web suggests -- as has been made clear in tea party protests and town halls over the spring and summer -- that the conservative base of the Republican party is energized and voting with their feet and their wallets (and often against the picks of the party establishment).
Hoffman's candidacy was born out of a belief that Scozzafava was insufficiently conservative and not entirely committed to the core principles of the party.
It's the same impetus behind Kentucky businessman Rand Paul's Senate bid against establishment pick Trey Grayson, the Secretary of State, and the same basic philosophical divide animating Republican candidates to run or consider primary challenges against nationally favored Senate candidates in New Hampshire, Florida and Colorado.

Feeling a bit of pride at this news. My little contribution earlier this week help make that total possible.
Phoned mine in yesterday! RNC surveys get filled out and returned, but without donations. I let them know why - I don’t support liberals, no matter what they call themselves.
They gave to Hoffman.
>He won’t get it. Another stuck on stupid.
Please consider calling it cowardice, or treason.
Me too.
I’m hoping now that he’s cleared 200K, the “he can win” people will give.
Rand Paul raised something like $1 million in one day if im not mistaken.
I just sent $100. We need to make a point with this election. We will support conservative candidates, not who the Republican establishment tells us who to support!
bttt
The only way we’re going to bring out the conservative in the party is to literally take it back! That’s part of what the tea parties are all about...it’s time to TAKE BACK THE PARTY from the RINOs! Count me on board!
Kudos! I too have gotten two surveys in the past 3-4 months....have sent both back minus money and with a lot of in their face about how sick and tired I am of the RNC failing to do their job! They’re a disappointment and need to be flushed down the commode! ... along with the RINOs they keep trying to foist upon us!
Diablo
Democrat in all but label only.
Donate to Doug Hoffmann, Bob McDonnell in VA, Chris Christie ? in NJ, not sure on him but running against the Gov from Goldman Sachs Jon Corzine.
Rand Paul in Kentucky and look for Patrick Hughes or Eric Wallace in Illinois.
Go Sarah 2012!
The GOP Establishment is working against us, they take money a put them into these candidates so we don’t have enough resources for real conservatives and if they get in power they become the speakers for our side on the left wing talk shows.
No thanks RNC, RNCC, and the NRSC.
OBAMA just said yesterday we do what were told by the RNC, wrong again Barry.
It’s mother’s milk baby!
I think that was the 3rd quarter according to http://www.fec.gov
Rand was even with Grayson in Individual contributions for the quarter. His father raised 6 or 7 million in 24 hours during the Presidential campaign.
What a great idea for a grassroots campaign! Millions of conservatives all donating $17.76 to conservative candidates! Question is: would the RINO establishment even get the point?
Great idea!
In for $10.00
