'Die quickly' congressman creates namesofthedead.com; GOP cries foul

Rep. Alan Grayson, whose "die quickly" remark gained him much attention, has created a new website based on his meme called "namesofthedead.com."

On the site, visitors can log the names and stories of friends and relatives who died because they lacked health insurance. Users are prompted to enter their name, address, zip code and e-mail address, as well as their friend's or relative's name, hometown and story.

"I have created this project in their memory," the site, funded by Grayson, says. "I hope that honoring them will help us end this senseless loss of American lives ... Help us ensure that their legacy is a more just America, where every life that can be saved will be saved."

Grayson (D-Fla.) announced the creation of the site on the House floor Wednesday using a poster with the site's Web address.

"I propose that we identify them. I propose that we honor their memory by naming them," he said. Grayson wished eventually "that we close it out for all time ... And no one, no one will ever die in America because they can't see a doctor."

The National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) quickly responded to the site, slamming its content and suggesting it violates either House ethics rules or Federal Election Commission law. The site links to both Grayson's campaign website and Grayson's official House website.

Co-mingling publicly funded congressional communications and campaign communications is prohibited.

“What is wrong with this man? Alan Grayson's morbid exploitation of 'the dead' for personal political gain may be the most shameless stunt he's pulled yet," said NRCC spokesman Andy Seré in a statement. "Once again, he's proved himself to be an abject embarrassment to Central Floridians who want more than a circus clown for a congressman."

Grayson gained the admiration of many liberals and the scorn of many conservatives when he said Republicans' healthcare plan is for people with illnesses to "die quickly."

The day after he made his remarks, he defended them, saying on the House floor "I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted sooner to end this holocaust in America."

Grayson has frequently cited a Harvard study that claims 44,000 Americans die every year due to lack of health insurance.

“My brother and his wife live in his district. They love this guy! He must be bringing home the bacon or something!”

While he is a flaming moron on this issue, he is one of a few who insists the that Fed must be privately audited, along with Ron Paul, which is a major point of contention for many.

The socialists destruction of American medicine will kill off people. However with Romney’s RomneyCare, Crists Florida Care, Newt signing on with HillaryCare, and the general spinelessness of GOP it is impossible for our socialist lite Republicans to have slammed ObamaCare/RinoCare.

Grayson, unlike Republicans has balls.

I sure that the real purpose of this site is to create a database of newly registered democrat voters. I guess the democrats haven’t registered enough dead people yet.

My grandfather had insurance and he still died (yesterday, as a matter of fact)!

Mr. Grayson, on behalf of my deceased Grandpa, STFU!!!!! And don’t try registering him to vote either—he wasn’t a bleeding heart liberal.

The whole premise is wacko, the fact that someone died who lacked insurance is not proof they died BECAUSE they lacked insurance. How about listing all the people who die because they DO have insurance and someone makes a mistake in the hospital. Send them a dvd of the movie “Hospital” starring George C. Scott.

I was thinking the same thing, but go through anonymous servers, or he will be able to come after you. He’s demonstrated his unethical behavior and immoral character.

My company has blocked that site. We also block social network sites.

I won’t rejoice until my company blocks the white house government site as a socialist network site.

I wonder how many BS stoies people will post and he will repeat during his speeches without fact checking or investigating the allegations.

oh and BTW, I don’t understand his purpose. You walk into the hospital and you WILL get treated. It’s the law they have to. period... Not too mention their are programs out there that the state picks up the bill if you don’t have insurance. No one is talking about that!

“’Die quickly’ congressman creates namesofthedead.com; GOP cries foul”

“Namesofthedead.com” did Rahm Emanuel come up with that name?

“...On the night after the 1996 election, “Emanuel was so angry at the president’s enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting ‘Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!’ and plunging the knife into the table after every name.”

How about telling a story about someone who went to the hospital and had their bills paid for by their health insurance provider. They act like no money is ever paid out by those EVIL insurance companies!

Can any of them provide an actual certified copy of a death certificate that lists the cause of death as “Lack of Insurance”?

I don’t like Grayson to say the least, but you got to give him credit for saying what he means and sticking up for it. Would that our guys had that kind of integrity... I suspect that a lot of people who would normally hate his politics respect that he has moxie and will fight for what he thinks is right. Unlike most of the mealymouths in Washington.

I received an email today from a GOP challenger: Armando Gutierrez. http://www.gogutierrez.com

I know nothing about him, so this is not an endorsement. I think there is another GOP candidate, last name Miller, or something. Sorry, can't remember.

Ted Kennedy died— he wasn’t really covered by insurance- he was covered by the plan the Senators have which is not the plan being foisted on the US. Kennedy got the best care his millions could buy above and beyond any coverage. His coverage would be taxed under Baucus plan.

But.. let’s start with Mary Jo Kopechne who died without ANY insurance against an asshole like Teddy... or types like Alan Grayson for that matter. I’m going to submit Mary Jo— cause of death... slow asphyxiation and inhalation of salt water, and she wasn’t insured against that or the actions of Teddy. Smoke that Grayson
