Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-N.Y.) locked Republicans out of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee room to keep them from meeting when Democrats arent present.
Towns action came after repeated public ridicule from the leading Republican on the committee, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), over Townss failure to launch an investigation into Countrywide Mortgages reported sweetheart deals to VIPs.
For months Towns has refused Republican requests to subpoena records in the case. Last Thursday Committee Republicans, led by Issa, were poised to force an open vote on the subpoenas at a Committee mark-up meeting. The mark-up was abruptly canceled. Only Republicans showed up while Democrats chairs remained empty.

I agree. We can’t keep making “broad brush” statements that no Republicans are speaking out. Look at Marsha Blackburn, Michelle Bachman, Jim DeMint, Sarah on Facebook. We have to give some credit. I agree it isn’t enough people, though.
Oh yeah, and remember our people down in Florida when the ballots were being “counted” in 2000? Our people pounding on the door saying “let us in!”. Well, the state-run media surely did their best to make our side look like we were in the wrong for demanding to be in the room ! Be prepared for it to happen again when Darrel Issa, et al make waves.
Is there a chance that a good investigative journalist (like the guy who filmed ACORN) there in the Halls of Congress filming some of this? I hope so!
Have the Republicans apologized yet?
Have the Republicans apologized yet?
“Democrats lock Republicans out of committee room”
There is no ax in the entire building? Someone pull a fire alarm. DO SOMETHING FGS!
This one smells like a liberal Watergate Scandal waiting to erupt. I hope that Limbaugh and Hannity and Beck start digging into this one.
Knock the door down.
The democrats are pure partisan hacks.
Republicans in Congress en masse ought to walk out. ALL of them. No opposition member present (It only takes one) No Quoroum, no Votes.
Michael Steele does need to be replaced. That being said, I can’t think of anyone in the party that is suited to be his successor. To be effective, it will take someone with thick skin, a titanium spine and a big mouth!
Hmmmm . . . . Rush, you interested?
You don't now how much I wish I could believe that. Instead, I look at republicans and see either traitors or steers.
Maybe they are raising hell...but if a Republican congressman raises hell in the forest and the state run media doesn’t report it...
Why am I not seeing repub faces on TV raising hell? oh, I forgot...they are above the pettiness of politics.
The media would just make the Republicans look like babies. This is just plain stupid and does not even deserve the Republicans worry...the American people think this is just dumb.
I hope you’re right.
They aren’t that smart. Nor do they have the backbone to stand up for the Constitution.
