Just saw another ad by the Humane Society. They do wonderful work and help animals who have been abandoned or treated cruelly.
I hate these ads, not for their poor taste, they are actually done well and are a needed message about treating animals with love and humanely.
What bothers me about the ads is the starkness of the cruelty man exacts on an animal who loves unconditionally and is always happy to see you.
They don't care what kind of day you had or how much money you make. The're always happy when you walk in the front door.
And yet there are humans just so sick, they would beat, starve or maime an animal, so they can exert their power over an animal who has no defense and will still love.
Is this love a sign of God, who loves unconditionally no matter your faults or defects?
I am forced to turn away when these ads run as my eyes well up with tears.
I cannot believe someone would do the things to these animals who would love you and do what you want. They are your friend and want nothing more than to be your companion, fulfill a void you didn't know you had and entertain you.
The pictures they show disgust me and I am not able to conjure up any qualification for the horror of the cruelty I see.
I smile at my pets to let them know yes, I was only gone 2 minutes and I am back. Sorry you missed me.
I smile at my pets to let them know I don't care what they do, they are just so damn cute and beautiful.
I smile at my pets when the want to play retrieve.
I smile at my pets when they do their natural job and run toward the street after a squirrel and then upon my command sit or heel. I then hug them for being so good and alive.
I smile at my pets for some of the dumb things they do because well... it's funny and amazing.
I smile when they bug me to scratch them and then watch as they go into some weird frenzy and I imagine them saying "Oh! Thank you. You have no idea how good that feels. Do it some more".
I smile because they are my responsibility and I love taking care of them, even if they want me play with them all the time.
I smile because they are God's gift to me and I know I must provide them love and care that will give them a healthy life and enliven their spirit.
Thanks for letting me rant.
I suspect this thread is populated with mostly suburban and apartment-dwelling middle-aged childless women. I also suspect none of you have ever had to put down a sick or crippled animal yourself like those of us who were raised on farms or in the country. And no, I don’t mean a blubbery trip to the vet’s office and a half-hour goodbye while Fluffy is “put to sleep” when the vet could have been helping some other sick animal.
I mean like your favorite dog that got run over by a car and, with paralyzed back legs, dragged herself home by her front paws; I mean like a gorgeous colt that broke his foreleg, bone protruding from the flesh, both in excruciating agony. The deer or cow hit by a truck; you get out of your car, walk up, and find the animal in a wild, wide-eyed panic. Sorry, but we have become so separated from the reality of death that we have turned the lives (and deaths) of these precious creatures into circus acts.
totally.
people are cruel for their intent.
Thanks.
Good Idea and I drive my local every morning. I will stop in and see them tomorrow.
Nature will do what nature does.
Humans are suppose to know better and the Intent is the problem.
In nature they defend territory or make a delicious meal out of prey. Doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
But for a human to prey on an animal, who is dependent upon your care...
Inexcusable.
Locally. The national HSUSA is no good. See a couple of the other posts on this thread for more info.
Good looing horses. They look fine to me.
Eyes, mouth, stance and looks firm.
Thanks for your story.
I take care of a friend at night and on the weekends. She was my dancing partner for 20 years. That is until she broke here hip.
4 operations, in one year, to replace the hip and two bouts of Vicomyacin resistant MRSA would have killed most people.
The amazing thing with her is here spirit and will.
She is now 99 years old and 5 months. She had a cat that was a constant companion and gave her a purpose.
She would play with it, brush it, pet it put little glasses of water around the house “So she won’t go thirsty”.
Poor thing died of cancer. You should have seen her crying. Doesn’t cry that hard for humans. She was really sad.
Another friend found a cat that looked identical to her and it was a rescue.
We picked her up and brought her home and now my friend again, has something to take care of.
I can tell you the entire story and where we are to this point but, I am not a professional writer. LOL
Suffice it to say, I don’t believe she would be with us if the cat wasn’t here for her to take care of.
Hope this wasn’t aimed at me, but if it was, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Good, they always need money and help.
Hardly matters to the critter who becomes the delicious meal (slowly).
Just to put your mind at ease, the SA Humane Society and the HSUS share similar names, but are not the same organization. Many private shelters call themselves Humane Societies, and none of them have relation to HSUS. The HSUS absolutely does not have shelters at all, so don’t feel bad supporting SAHS. Their name comes from what they do, not an association with the enemy.
We are not affiliated with any national organizations
I'm glad you found a dog at a shelter, I send people to shelters and rescues all the time. But, HSUS does not adopt out dogs and run shelters to the best of my knowledge. They are simply an animal rights lobbying group.
Dumped the TV, good for you. Those who can’t wisely choose what to watch should remove the temptation.
Can't help you...it's not my quote.
I think your reasoning is mistaken.
On all the days of creation for the night and day, sea and sky, animals, etc.
God ended with the words: “This is good.”
On the day that He created Man, God’s remark was: “This is VERY good.”
Humans are much more important to God that animals.
Think about it — you can have all the animals you want, but if you do not have HUMAN LIFE, then you do not have liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
I encourage you to re-read the Declaration of Independence and the Constistution of the United States, including the Bill of Rights...................Humans are protected....not animals.
Every thread you spam is one less prayer I will say for the unborn.
Good job.
What you can do in your little corner of the world is go to the nearest Planned Parenthood Clinic and pray for an end to abortion.
Some astounding facts:
Deaths in America per year
1,400,000 people die from abortion
650,000 people die of heart disease
560,000 people die of cancer
143,000 people die of stroke
75,000 people die of diabetes
Another perspective:
18,000 - Deaths by death penalty in American history (all the way back to the 1600s).
1,315,000 - Deaths in all American wars combined.
50,000,000 - Deaths by abortion since Roe v Wade
You are so right.
