Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

There’s no kid or they’d have him out by now.
It was weird at the end, when all the cops just stood around looking at it. Like the kid might be holding a gun or something.
I’m with the crowd who thinks no one was on board. I just don’t think that thing had enough helium to lift the mass of a six-year-old kid.

I saw that show. They were a bit wild (read: out of control, no discipline). But the woman she swapped with was a pathetic wimp - wouldn’t let her older boys even explore the forest down the street.

They’ve turned the base of it upside down. No boy. They’re pushing the helicopters out of the air space. It doesn’t sound good.
No kid on board....Someone saying the kid might have fallen out early on....

They tethered it, I’m watching to see. No sign yet of the child..........Don’t know, they don’t seem to show that he was in there and Fox just cut off the view!
Hopefully the kid was fiddling with it, up up and away it went without him, and he ran and hid like most 6 year olds would have done after a “no-no.” Hopefully.
