Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

The setting set will impact the performance, as the temperatures plummet.
CORRECTION: The setting set, should read- the setting sun.
If it flips, the whole thing could crash to the ground, like a parachute not deploying properly.
prayer bump
Probably multiple compartments and one is leaking faster than the others.
That would be the best outcome.
I could be the WORST outcome to...if he fell out soon after going airborne....
Keep the prayers going! Time for another Sullyburger moment!
AMEN!
Right. Just wait for Iron Man to show up!
News geeks are wrong. The craft originated in Fort Collins in Weld county and it’s moving northeast at 15 to 20 miles per hour. Fort Collins is north of the Denver metro.
Wow, now saying its at 8k feet.
I hope that the video we are seeing is on tape-delay in case of a catastrophic crash.
Holy carp- FOX saying this thing was never DESIGNED to FLY...
...Father is a retired weather chaser- “victims rights advocates” with parents now...bottom isn’t designed to take a hard landing...
They believe the balloon is at 8K ft. The plywood base on which the boy is sitting is very thin and not designed to withstand impact. The balloon was not intended to fly.
It’s a Hot Air Balloon at 2,000 Feet Right.
Any Idea of what is keeping it up?
Eventually the Hot Air should cool and the Balloon will come down, slowly.
Unless of course, If there is an automatic burner on board.
Or perhaps the Kid is operating the Burner himself.
If there is a burner on board eventually the fuel should run out.
No, it is still buoyant.
Yep,,,reporting it’s at 8K
Keep praying people..
6000 feet an descending,COming down, loosing helium.
This will be over in 25 minutes.
Live Video feed:
as usual, Shep on FOX is starting to sound like a hysterical 9 year old girl...he’s doing his normal commentary, with what if’s and it now appears....
Fox had better get to SHEP before he hurts huimself....
I agree. If people would just think a LITTLE, what they are suggesting would look as stupid to them as it does to me. There is nothing anyone can do. Sometimes it is that way.
