(CNN) Meghan McCain says she's ready to quit Twitter all together after generating a wave of criticism from users of the popular social networking site Wednesday night for posting a picture of herself in a tank top that left little to the twitterverse's imagination.
The controversy began quietly enough when McCain, the vocal daughter of the former Republican presidential candidate, tweeted that her self described "spontaneous" night in included reading a biography of the iconic artist Andy Warhol and ordering takeout.
It was there the 24-year old McCain posted the photo of herself wearing a tank top that generated the subsequent controversy .

and the beer gut is just “love handles” on men. from whence do men draw all of that self esteem?
“It is my opinion that those who claim theyd hit anything, arent hitting anything and havent in awhile”
Maybe that’s true. Standards are a luxury. But still, it sounds like a woman talking. Women care about standards. An instinct to “hit” as much as possible resides within every man. We don’t just hit high value tagets; targets of opportunity are just as important.
i never heard of that either! let me stick up for my fellow polack! is that just a suthren thang?
Ohhhhhh. Got it. Here we just call that my girlfriend “Rosie Palm”
Actually I think it is a Marine Corps thing....my guy told it to me.
Yes, they are in the military; and, I believe that fact(that they are in the military)explains why we don’t hear from them about political issues. I think DOD frowns upon active duty personnnel being involved in politics, at least for members of a conservative bent. Regards the McCain boys, the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree though; and, if you don’t think the military harbors its share of hard leftist, think again. I knew a couple from my stint in the Corps years ago.
Well obviously there are also women with low standards who will bang anything with money, despite looking like (or being) David Letterman. But I do not think it is a male vs. female thing - it is an issue of character and what some will lower themselves to do for their own gratification. I put those people into the same catagory as those who will cheat, steal or lie if it gets them something.
“and the beer gut is just ‘love handles’ on men. from whence do men draw all of that self esteem?”
Males are guilty of creating euphamisms for themselves as well. But it’s different. Body-image and body-esteem issues aren’t anywhere near as important to us. I’d argue that they aren’t as important to women as it’s made out to be, but that’s another matter.
Simply put, being overweight isn’t as important to men as it is to women. Unless you’re gay.
Agreed.
I think she’s hot.
I agree! I almost sprained a finger rushing over her to see ... that??
Keep waiting!!!! ;)
OH that makes me sad for that girl....
He ends up taking the whole lot of them to an Acorn office to get housing benefits - the woman is skeptical and starts screaming "you won't get us again" - the boss walks in, asks what is going on and the boy recognizes him as one of his alley clients and they get their benefits on the spot! lol
“Well obviously there are also women with low standards who will bang anything with money, despite looking like (or being) David Letterman.”
Ah, but you see, money is their standard. All things being equal, more physically attractive men will be favored over the less attractive, obviously. But everything is not equal, and various things: power, wealth, social graces, count more for men than for women, if I have it right.
“it is an issue of character and what some will lower themselves to do for their own gratification.”
When men say “I’d hit that,” they don’t mean that they will go out of their way to do it. They mean that if the opportunity came up, and adverse consequences aren’t part of the calculation, they wouldn’t turn it down. This isn’t really a character thing, as ethics don’t enter into the question. One does not consider possible countervailing issues, such as her willingness, the risk of public censure, the risk of pregnancy, whether STDs are involved, or whether one or both of you are married. It’s not about that.
In short, the “Would you hit it?” question is beyond good and evil, if you will.
Megan was jonesin’ for some attention. This is a bit too contrived.
are you writing a college thesis on this topic? ; ) if so, i will correct your spelling of euphemism, so you don’t get points taken off, LOL!
Haha - justify it all you want - I’d hit it means you would do it if given the chance - married or not, values or not, disease or not, lol - you’d do it - Ok, maybe you don’t see it that way but I think others do ...damn the consequences they would do anything to have a chance at it. ;^)
“I put those people into the same catagory as those who will cheat, steal or lie if it gets them something.”
Perfect example, here, of the disconnect between the reality of Would You Hit It and its perception by some people (many of them women). If I asked if you’d be king of the world, and you said yes, would you like it if I went on to call you a monster, because most likely rising to that level would involve all sorts of morally suspect acts? In posing the question, I wouldn’t necessarily have been seeking out your true character. I merely wanted to know whether you’d accept the role if it was handed to you, no strings attached.
We’re not playing a game of scruples here, seriously. We’re simply trying to determine how many of us think Meghan is attractive enough to have intercourse with. Some people might incorporate her character and lifestyle into the question, but never their own (except insofar as it concerns her, as previously implied).
