SPRINGFIELD, Va. Standing at the site of a highway project funded by his economic stimulus plan, President Barack Obama said Wednesday he is committed to exploring all avenues to create jobs.
Obama said his administration is going to keep going until "every single American in this country who's looking for work is going to be able to get the kind of well-paying job that supports their families."
Obama spoke from the top of a large mound of dirt and gravel, the site of a highway construction project in the Virginia suburbs outside Washington. He chose the site of the Fairfax County Parkway Extension project to feature the progress of the stimulus package passed earlier this year.
The project is the state's largest stimulus-funded project. When completed, it will connect both ends of Fairfax County.
While some businesses have credited the stimulus bill with preventing layoffs, the national unemployment rate stands at 9.8 percent. Many economists have said unemployment could continue to rise.
The administration has stopped short of calling for a second economic stimulus package. But with the job picture slow to improve, Obama said his administration is moving forward on different fronts to boost the economy.
"We're going to continue to explore each and every avenue that I can think of that will lead to job creation and economic growth," he said while standing with Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and four construction workers wearing hard hats.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf
There once was a boy who was bored as he sat on the hillside watching the village sheep. To amuse himself he took a great breath and sang out, "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!"
The villagers came running up the hill to help the boy drive the wolf away. But when they arrived at the top of the hill, they found no wolf. The boy laughed at the sight of their angry faces.
"Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy," said the villagers, "when there's no wolf!" They went grumbling back down the hill.
Later, the boy sang out again, "Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!" To his naughty delight, he watched the villagers run up the hill to help him drive the wolf away.
When the villagers saw no wolf they sternly said, "Save your frightened song for when there is really something wrong! Don't cry 'wolf' when there is NO wolf!"
But the boy just grinned and watched them go grumbling down the hill once more.
Later, he saw a REAL wolf prowling about his flock. Alarmed, he leaped to his feet and sang out as loudly as he could, "Wolf! Wolf!"
But the villagers thought he was trying to fool them again, and so they didn't come.
At sunset, everyone wondered why the shepherd boy hadn't returned to the village with their sheep. They went up the hill to find the boy. They found him weeping.
"There really was a wolf here! The flock has scattered! I cried out, "Wolf!" Why didn't you come?"
An old man tried to comfort the boy as they walked back to the village. "We'll help you look for the lost sheep in the morning," he said, putting his arm around the youth, "Nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth!"

The way the dollar is falling it would be too expensive to print money at home. Have you priced ink cartridges?

Obama says he's looking at any way to create jobs (Thought he had all the answers?)If he wanted to create jobs, he would have spent the stimulus money on job creating schemes, instead of using it to pay off cronies.

Other than paying off patronage parasites to go out and sweep dirt roads, how does Barack Hussein Ubama (mmm! mmm! mmm!) figure government “creates jobs”? Wow. What a clueless p.o.s. that guy is.

Be bold...my son-in-law went into his boss today and told him he was going to quit and go back to school on his GI Bill, because he needs to make more $ for his growing family.
His boss MORE THAN DOUBLED his salary and made him a manager....all in 30 minutes.
The kid IS a real good worker.

It amazes me how ignorant people are. Cut taxes, continue on the Bush tax incentives, cut extraordinary fees in business, and reduce the size of government. Easy. But that doesn’t fit into the socialist plan. The AMerican people are just slaves to our government and they aren’t going to help us, they just want to keep us from breaking out and causing them problems.
Give me a $5000 tax credit for each employee i hire over minimum wage and ill hire a bunch tomorrow, instead of looking at our company’s demise because of the government manipulation of the market.

Well, that's a sobering thought - if Zero keeps following the socialist playbook on economics, his administration will last a hundred years.

That “he can think of”? That’s going to put us in a whole lot more of hurt. He’ll have government-paid make-work projects for every possible new SEIU recruit in no time. The Depression doubled!

This moron in the White House thinks that throwing money at fixing roads is going to bring this economy back in line. What a dumb ass.
Not just that - what happens to all those jobs when the money runs out for the stimulus? You can 'create' as many jobs as you want to, but they are meaningless if they are not permanent.
Temporary jobs only solve temporary problems. Obama's ignorance on simple economics is staggering.

Exactly. This is what happens when you get liberal affirmative action candidates in positions of power.
Clueless. But then, maybe not. Maybe it is intentional, providing union jobs that will last long enough through the 2010 election cycle, then making more temporary jobs that will last through the 2012 cycle.

Let’s see...
$1.4 TRILLION stimulus divided by $50,000 salary = 28 MILLION jobs the private sector could have created with that money
or
0% unemployment
