It would be helpful if you had included the explanation of why he was punished:

A 17-year-old Eagle Scout in upstate New York received a 20-day suspension for keeping a 2-inch pocketknife locked in a survival kit in his car. But, he teen's family wants their son reinstated so he can live out his dream of attending West Point - a dream now in peril because of the mar on his record.

A similar thing happened to me; I had a congressional appointment withdrawn due to a high school incident. What the teen should realize is that it shouldn’t disqualify him from an ROTC scholarship, which is the route I ended up going, and in retrospect, have had no regrets whatsoever.

Makes you wonder how they knew he had the knife in the car.

If West Point admissions officials pay any mind at all to this sort of nonsense, they’re no better than the idiots who suspended the kid.

>> for keeping a 2-inch pocketknife locked in a survival kit in his car.

About 14” shorter than the more lethal 2 pound tire iron.
