Below, I share an excerpt of the e-mail message — minus any names, because they’re not important in this case — that made so much sense to me:

My firm conviction at this point is that there would be no better aid to the radical leftists who are now actively engaged in destroying the Constitution than to divide up the forces that oppose them. If we unite in an effort to defeat them, it can be accomplished, not easily, but it is possible. Divided, it is not possible.

Therefore, adding another name or party to the ballot could mean defeat for our side in the coming elections. The elections in 2010 are not of the “ordinary” type. Much more depends on the outcome than is usual, namely the preservation of The United States and its culture.

I would recommend that all elements who are against the Democratic Party’s current policies consider the absolute necessity of establishing a coordinated and united front to win the 2010 elections. Support for conservative candidates in the primaries is legitimate and necessary; however, whatever the outcome, that cannot be continued through the general election campaign if we want to first stop, then change, the policies coming from the current group of radical, left wing office holders.

If the objective is to defeat politicians who are currently engaged in destroying the Constitution, those who want to change this will, by dividing the ballot, be aiding those they want to defeat. Divide et impera – (Divide and conquer – Julius Caesar!) Should we continue to advocate splitting our forces, we will be guilty of disregarding the most basic lessons of history. Have we learned nothing in 2000 years?

I implore you to reconsider your support of candidates from third parties (i.e., Constitution, Libertarian, Reform et al), because we simply cannot afford to split the conservative voting block and allow the liberals to win another election cycle.

If this message makes sense to you, share it with like-minded individuals who, like me, were leaning toward third-party candidates.

Sorry the Republicans have to get my vote back the old fashioned way, they have to earn it. If you don’t vote for the party that most represents you, you will have wasted your vote. Silent views will never be known and the GOP will accept your vote as their mandate.

If the GOP can’t come up with candidates and positions that 50%+ of the country support, they have to keep going back to the drawing board until they do.

I won’t vote for a brand name again.

If the gop can do no better than mcloon, mittwit or the huckster then they can go pound sand.

The (R) has lost all real value. It’s like General Motors.

If Romney is the nominee, I won't have to think twice, nor will it matter who his V.P. nominee is, I will never vote for him for any elective office. That's a promise and it's written in stone.

A third party would only split the vote and guarantee a Democrat win. (remember Ross Perot?)

We should use the same playbook that the Marxist/communist have done to the Democrat party. Infiltrate it and take over. We need to replace all the RINOs in the party with true conservatives. Take it over from within. Also, we need Haley Barbour back as head of the RNC, not some ACORN loving impostor.

I've heard these arguments all my adult voting life. Let me try an analogy for you.

Years ago, we were expected to buy American cars no matter how poorly made they were or whether they met our needs or not. Besides, what choice did we have? The big three were all we had.

Then, along came Toyota and Honda. They made high quality cars that fit people's needs. And, people bought Toyotas and Hondas even though they were condemned as unAmerican for buying foreign cars, as though the buyers were responsible for our car companies' failures.

When a company or political party or whatever no longer meets the needs of the people it serves, it must change or it deserves to die.

The republicans can't blame the voters for not wanting to vote republican any more. They damn well better change or hope a real alternative doesn't come along, but I suspect all they'll do is whine while showing us how much better liberals they are than the demonrats.

This is nonsense.

There are only a handful of truly conservative Republicans willing to stand up against the slide into socialism. All the Democrats seem willing to race there and half the Republicans are walking there. Whether we fall into socialism depends upon enough men and women with the courage and guts to speak out against it. It does NOT depend on me supporting people like John McCain or Olypian Snowe to stop the Democrats, because these people are JUST as guilty as the rest of the Democrats.

It is absolutely wrong to think that dividing your vote/or financial support will stem this growing socialist tide. It will not unless we support people who are willing to take on the tough choices that face this country. To say that we will elect ANY Republican just because they’ll stop the Democrats simply is not true.

The Republican had their chance and blew it. I am not going to give money or support to the likes of a party who does not have the guts to stand on principles. Nor am I’m going to give my money/support to a party who is going to turn around and support someone like Snowe just because she’s “electable”. What good is that?

I want a party that clearly details how they plan on getting us out of this mess. It doesn’t matter if they win or lose. What matters is that they speak out. I’m tired of a party that wants to look at “including” people. Instead they should develop some backbone and say, “This is what we stand for…” and then let the people come to them. Believe me, you will have all sorts of people coming.

My money and time will go to those who stand for principles. If we lose then we gave it our best shot as the country slides into socialism.

Support Conservative candidates in your republican primary, tell your friends to get involved with that instead of running a third party candidate.

ONLY run, support a third party candidate as a last resort where 1) It is reasonable to win, and 2) Both the Dem and Rep (won in primary) are Liberals.

Note to Republicans: Think twice before foisting RINOs and Liberals as candidates of the Republican party.

I won’t support a third party presidential candidate in 2012, unless that party has a significant number of incumbents on the ballot at all levels, including incumbent Representatives and Senators, and has earned consideration.

In 2010, only Conservative candidates will get my support. If the Republican party runs solid conservatives, they have my vote. If they run RINOs, they can expect my strong, principled opposition. It is at least equally likely that the RINO will split "moderate votes" with the Liberal/Marxist DemocRAT and enable the true conservative to win.

The decision has to be made on a district by district basis. My old district (before I moved) in Georgia is an example. It is a conservative district, with no real chance for a Democrat to win. However, the primary is crowded now. If that fact, combined with an open primary, results in a RINO on the ballot for that district, there is a good chance that the Conservatives in the district could unite behind a single conservative candidate and win the general election with a single, strong, independent conservative candidate. That wouldn’t be good for Republicans, but I believe it might be better for the Republic.

What will you do if the GOP fields another liberal RINO? We now seem to have, in effect, a one party system.

The RNC has obviously written me off, or they figure I'll vote for the lesser of evils again, but I'm no longer sure they are even slightly less evil.

The GOP wishes Sarah Palin would just go away, but they are going to work to neutralize her, just in case. There are already attempts to link her to a RINO millstone.
