Zelaya blames American "extreme right wing" politicians for the "Coup" in Honduras

Today Manuel Zelaya made some declarations to the media in which he blamed American "extreme right wing" politicians for his ousting. Zelaya said that these politicians were lobbying to prevent his restitution and were plotting to make damage to the Obama Administration and the Democrat Party.

Well, we know the left wing President wasn’t behind it.

“We right wingers cheered, but we didn’t hatch or launch any plot when Honduras put the hammer to him.”

Well, maybe you didn’t, but I did. I wrote a bunch of Zelaya’s speeches and declarations and put them in a stack which he innocently signed and read from a teleprompter without realizing that he was making provocative and unconstitutional proposals. I just did it for a joke figuring that only a moron would fall for it. I guess I was right.

Barack Obama... the first American “president” to go mad in office. If he hadn’t already gone mad before he assumed office, that is.

On October 1st, anti-semitic remarks were wrongly attributed to Zelaya. David Romero, Station Director of pro-Zelaya Radio Globo, made them. Romero later apologized for his statements and said that one of his grandfathers was Jewish. And Zelaya denounced the remarks yesterday, pointing out that four of his cabinet ministers were Jews. So the accusations against Zelaya turned out to be false. Of course, that's nothing new on this board.

In this thread are more unsupported accusations. HonCitizen, you claim that Zelaya made certain remarks today. Got a link to the remarks? Didn't think so.

I am aware of David Romero’s statements, but Zelaya was quoted as saying that Israel was attacking him with gas and lethal rays just after he arrived at the embassy.

Exactly how do these “extreme rightwing politicians” weild such power in a nation like Honduras when they weild not even the power to pass their own bills in either the US Congress or the Senate?

Who is dumb enough to even broadcast this publically over a loudspeaker as to in anyway support their cause? The idea doesn’t even make sense.

He’s got it all wrong. If the extreme right wingers had so much influence, he’d be dead. Rightfully so.

Z is a hypocrite, because in the interview he did for the Miami Herald he spoke about “Israeli mercenaries”. So the Statement was done by him. The other statements were by Romero and due to pressures from the American embassy he apologized.

Note that he didn’t mentioned any Jews now but still mentioned the “gases and electromagnetc rays”.

About were I got the info, I was at the University when I heard a news conference made by Z. TeleSur people were there.

I don’t think he’s trying to start a civil war, I think he’s trying to get his job back for the three-and-a-half months in his four-year term. Of course opinions vary.

If only we had a few “extreme right wing politicians” in the US. We’d be better off.

BTW he returned with the same story of the brain-frying rays and the gases and that stuff.

Say again? Is Zalaya claiming that somebody was hitting him with "mind control rays"?

First I've heard of this. Please elaborate.

Fair point. I personally don't buy the Israeli agents claim, and am skeptical about the radio waves bit. But as an electrical engineer, I can tell you that emissions that are sufficiently strong to create physical discomfort or physiological damage are easily detectable and can be documented.

Mind-control rays? If used, they sure failed big time, didn't they?

Now let's get to something real. Some outsiders reported that during the first days of the embassy siege, loudspeakers were used to harass the people in the embassy. If that is true, surely someone made recordings of the noise. If not, no recordings. Simple as that.

Zelaya claimed during the first week that the embassy had been gassed and was ridiculed for saying so. Today I found a CNN report dated September 25th with details:

Zelaya and his aides said at a news conference that a local public health specialist they identified as Dr. Mauricio Castellano took air samples near the embassy after the attack and determined that the gas contained HCN, an abbreviation for hydrogen cyanide. HCN can cause dryness and burning of the throat, shortness of breath, convulsion, coma and cardiovascular collapse.

Note that the specialist is identified by name, and it is claimed that samples exist. It would be devastating to the Micheletti regime if the specialist and samples are credible.

I recall reading that some interim government official (might have been Micheletti) said later that a street-cleaning crew had been using chemicals at the time and the usage was interpreted as a gas attack. This statement, along with the CNN excerpt, tends to give some credibility to Zelaya's claim.
